Introduction

Hello! My name is Jonathan and like you probably know if from the title that I play the violin. This is the first post going up so this is an just an introduction. Anyways, I am in 5th grade and am in my school orchestra (Which is very fun!). In orchestra we will learn new playing techniques, practice our songs, and have fun while doing it. I try to practice everyday at home because the violin requires a lot of practice. I hope to continue playing and getting better until one day I could play in a professional orchestra or become a concert violinist. One of my favorite things about the violin is being able to play it with other friends who play the violin (you know who you are if you happen to be reading this). Soooooooooooooo, that is just a little bit about me. I love the violin and I think it is a great choice of an instrument. Have to go practice now, bye!

P.S. If you ever see my violin its name is Beverly. :D

Tips and Tricks on How to Make a Good Sound

Want to make a good sound? Here are some things to know:
1. Own a violin (obviously)
2. Don't get a 70 dollar violin of of the internet. (This should also be pretty obvious) get one from a music store.
3. Now for some real tips. When playing notes, make sure your fingers are pressed down on the fingerboard hard (but not too hard). If they are not it will make a fuzzy, squeaky sound.
4. Make your bow perpendicular to the strings. It should not be sliding around or be crooked. If it is sliding around then it will most likely make a sound you will not want to hear - more squeaks.
5. Have some rosin on your bow. Rosin is applied to your bow to keep it from sliding and to produce a better sound. Just make sure your bow is not caked with rosin otherwise there will be a cloud of dust around you. :D
6. Use the bow above the bridge. If you try to play below the bridge it will make the most horrid sound you have ever heard in your life.
If you are still reading good job.
Bye
