The treatment of "bad moms", particularly poor moms that are in difficult circumstances angered me. As Stevenson states, "[i]n hundreds of other cases, falsely accused women never received the forensic help they needed to avoid wrongful convictions" (233-234). It seems like a law that is supposed to be supporting children and families has been taken too far and is hurting communities that need the most help.

This chapter made me feel disappointed that the portrayal of bad mothers in the media and other sources always talk about what the mother has done but not what the mother has gone through. This is strange to me because I feel to be all fair in the eyes of the law there must be two things to classify people. One is proof and the other is backstory, you never know what some else is going through before or after events transpire. Seen in chapter 12 Stevenson describes a mother who is running from a storm trying to find a place to live when she gets pregnant at a bad time. This then leads to a stillborn baby and the death of the child. However, investigators see this as a murder and not a stillborn death. Now let’s go back before I mentioned this person’s backstory and let me tell you again. A mother is accused of killing her supposedly still born son. See now this doesn’t say much about what she did, but it sure is easier to type out.

After reading this article, I feel very moved, I think this mother is so resilient, and that gives me a strange feeling, being a mother is hard, raising us is so hard, it's extraordinary. Like in the story, She is a loving, devoted mother who does not have the money to seek prenatal care.

The chapter is very moving, it is also a life lesson for people who want to become a parent, in my opinion i believe that it is all about the persons health to develop a healthy baby, being an adult is difficult because you have a variety of responsibilities to take care of but healthcare is mandatory and should always be taken care of to prevent unfortunate events like this

I think this chapter is very emotional and touching. Being a parent is not an easy job at all. A parents wants the best for their child, so seeing the mother struggle so much is truly heartbreaking. This has the potential to cause serious mental harm to anyone.
Marsha Colbey is the poor mother that was introduced in this chapter. After Hurricane Ivan hit they were left broke and with no jobs. Due to that they had no way of taking care of their 6 children. To make things worse Marsha also gets pregnant.
Eventfully Marsha gives birth to a still born child in a bathtub. This leads to the child to die. After this was reported to the authorities. The law declared this to be a murder.
They were already in such a bad place and after this, things just got worse for them.

It made me angry and sad, I became angry because of how the system showed weakness and jailed an innocent woman, NO an innocent MOTHER causing so much harm to a poor family with miss accusation of murdering and bad mother, they not only misunderstood the situation but even if it was true the punishment should have contained the mother being followed and controlled by radar and such for control of her activities and fined for being bad mother or something like that but not taking her away from mental dependent children. Also I got so frustrated with the parasites insects in jail that would fertilize these poor women's like a zombie wasp. and with all these I got so sad that how poor and bad our best system is.

This chapter is kind of hitting hard, because of the innocent mother. The poor mother gets wrongly accused of killing his son. These things gives me more anger and sad as well.

The chapter "mother mother" gave me a few mixed emotions such as confusion and anger, but the main one was being upset. The reason I was so upset was because of how terrible and unfair the system was. An innocent person is accused of something they would never do and the effects play a role on them and their family. This person was also a hardworking mother that cared for her kid but yet got accused of murder. It was so confusing how someone like her could get accused of something like that.

This chapter got me upset and sad on how a hardworking mother that does everything to help her family and children are taken care of and healthy. Having a mother being accused of murdering her own child and how the system handled this without finding out how the child wad murder and just accused the mother of doing this. Being a parent is very hard trying your hardest for your child, even if you don't make a lot for a living you still do anything for your child. The system didn't try to go further into what happened and just accused her at the end.

Many women go through things and may not have an outlet. The system doesn't care nor tries to care about mental health.

by aryany /After reading this story i started to feel really disappointed because in the book it says she really love her kid and cared about him and she was being judge just because of her addiction to drugs so they appearance her as a bad mother when all she did was work and give an example of a hard working mother but instead she got accused of killing her own baby which seems extremely unfair she was going to very difficult things in her life but she was still managing to take care of the baby.
