As Stevenson states, "[i]n hundreds of other cases, falsely accused women never received the forensic help they needed to avoid wrongful convictions" (233-234). This is strange to me because I feel to be all fair in the eyes of the law there must be two things to classify people. One is proof and the other is backstory, you never know what some else is going through before or after events transpire. Seen in chapter 12 Stevenson describes a mother who is running from a storm trying to find a place to live when she gets pregnant at a bad time. This then leads to a stillborn baby and the death of the child. However, investigators see this as a murder and not a stillborn death. Now let’s go back before I mentioned this person’s backstory and let me tell you again. A mother is accused of killing her supposedly still born son. Being a parent is not an easy job at all. A parents wants the best for their child, so seeing the mother struggle so much is truly heartbreaking. This has the potential to cause serious mental harm to anyone. 
Marsha Colbey is the poor mother that was introduced in this chapter. After Hurricane Ivan hit they were left broke and with no jobs. Due to that they had no way of taking care of their 6 children. To make things worse Marsha also gets pregnant. 
Eventfully Marsha gives birth to a still born child in a bathtub. This leads to the child to die. After this was reported to the authorities. The law declared this to be a murder.
