As readers learn why he thinks he is so bad, they realize that he is really just impulsive and needs to work on thinking before he acts. The seed realizes that he needs to work on these things, and so he begins to try to do better. Ken was raised in Florida, where as a young child his passion for the ocean was born. He experimented with taking small coral colonies that grew on his farm and gluing them to dying reef. He wanted to see if he could give them a canvas to grow new life. Students will be eager to learn if he was successful or not. I like this book because it shows how one person's passion can make such a difference.
