We were so lucky to be able to visit the church. Reverend Gail taught us about Christingle and the importance of advent which built upon our learning from class.

We loved the church and the experience.

In Music we have been learning about the terms 'pulse' and 'beat'. We were finding a simple beat within a familiar song and using body percussion and untuned instruments to move along with the beat of the song.

In Maths today, we explored the composition of the 'teen' numbers. We used the sentence stem ....... has ....... tens and ....... ones.

so " 16 has 1 ten and 6 ones"

" 14 has 1 ten and 4 ones"

In P.E. we have been learning to develop our balancing skills and coordinating our movements in different directions.

We started off by using the cones and balancing them in our hands whilst moving around the hall. We soon begun the real challenge of balancing the cones on our heads whilst trying to pick up a beanbag from the floor. The children had lots of fun and found it really tricky to begin with.

We ended our lesson with a bit of hand eye coordination and reviewing our target practice by playing catch with a little bit of a difference (we weren't using our hands to catch we were balancing the cones once the beanbag had landed in it)

In Maths we have been looking at numbers beyond ten. We are beginning to understand the composition of these numbers in terms of tens and ones. Today we were exploring one more and one less than numbers between 1-20.

In Art, we have begun learning about painting and developing new skills. We are drawing inspiration from Piet Mondrian and started by developing a canvas using a selection of neutral coloured materials.

In English, we have been concentrating on the fundamental skills of writing a sentence.

The children have been identifying where a sentence starts and finishes and learning how to demarcate their writing to show that.

The children really enjoyed exploring different ways of making towers. We discussed what makes a tower, a tower and we looked at different shapes that would be best to use when building one so that it doesn't topple over.

Today in science the children displayed excellent learning. After asking lots of questions we began to explore the concept of translucent materials too.

Safer Internet Day 2025

On this day, we talked about the importance of being safe online, how we can be safe online and what to do if we were not sure.
The children were really good at talking about what technology they enjoy using, the games they play and apps they use. They were also very good at being able to identify grown ups that they could tell if there was a problem either at home or at school.

This was the third and final lesson of our D.T. Lessons for this unit.
Children learned that a freestanding structure is a structure that stands on its own foundation or base without attachment to anything else.
We built structures that were freestanding using a range of different materials.
The key question for this unit was “how can you stop a tower from toppling over”

Forest School

To support this learning, we went out to Forest School and created nature pictures.
The children had lots of fun and made some wonderful pictures.
