The temperate rain forest occurs in a temperate climate. You often find temperate rain forests in North America, Australia, and New Zealand. The temperature is moderate year round and cooler than tropical rainforests. They experience a lot of rainfall. There is a lot of vegitation in this biome.

The air is very thick and humid in the temperate rain forest. This humidity is due to a lot of precipitation. On average, the rainfall for a year in the temperate rain forest is 60-200 inches. A fog is produced in this biome, which sometime results in some of that rainfall. The temperatures are moderate year-round in this climate.
The climatograph provided shows that in summer, the temperature gets higher and there is less precipitation. In winter seasons, the temperature gets lower and precipitation increases.

The latitude of the Temperate Rain Forest is about 40 degrees north to about 60 degrees north. The altitude, or elevation, is usually sea level to 750 m. This effects climate because it makes a difference in climate based on the location, so different species are found in different temperate rain forests depending on the climate.

The temperate rain forest is very rich in soil nutrients due to organic matter in the ground. Because of this, vegetation is large and growing. The isolation of the biome is effected by this because it is so nutrient rich in soil.

In the temperate rain forest, you will find plants such as ferns, mosses, and small plants. Mosses and lichens are known to grow on the tree trunks and rocks. Some trees found in this biome are the Douglas-Fir, Sitka Spruce, Western Red Cedar, and Western Hemlock. You can find beetles burrowing in moss here as well as wood peckers eating insects. Voles and Deer feed on grass in this biome.
