From my family I learned how to speak it, but I could never write this language. Thats because I lived in Switzerland where everybody speaks Swiss-german. I learned that  from my  brothers and neighbour friends. At school I learned to read and write german, later also french and english. A speech or a dialogue can tell you story. Also jokes and the sence of humor wil everybody understand. Its really incredible that you can understand eachother by open your mouth.
