Commendation- Clear systems and structures that result in a positive rapport that includes students clapping for each other.
Also, students are specifically praised during think aloud.

Recommendation- While doing the think aloud many students would jump in to answer questions you asked. The way in which you asked these questions, specifically the inflection of your voice, made it feel like you wanted students to voice their answers. This can also be combatted by explicitly telling students how you want them to act during the think aloud.

Commendation: Clear expectations of what to do. Your think out loud addressed every part of the question and you explained why you did it that way. As for the student work, students were able to find the simple interest of a question. Every student artifact showed that.

Recommendation: Ask a follow up question to allow for students to synthesize what they learned. for the student artifacts, have studnets write a notice board because although you said it in your think outloud, students were not doing it. Also, have students label what each part means because some students were finding separate things that were not asked for in their work.

Commendations: There was a purpose for why you were doing certain things in your think outloud, why you add for tax and why you subtract for discount. Also, there is a positive classroom environment. You praised students and they were engaged. As for the student work, students were able to convert percents to decimals and find the tax and discount.

Recommendation: When you are doing the think outloud, finish your thoughts first without student input and be clear with what you want them to do while you are doing it. As for the student work, have students explain what their answer means to synthesize their understanding of what they are doing.

Commendation - As students share answers they received immediate on the spot feedback. Every question asked was directed at a different student. If a student didn't have the answer within a 20 second wait time a new student was selected to share their answer.

Recommendation - To save time try collect pictures of student work to display in front of the class. While jumping from student to student has its benefits, seeing the entirety of a students thought process would allow students to see new or different methods than what they are used to.
