About afro beats

Afrobeat was developed in the late 1960s. A lot of US and UK artists are influenced by the genre and even do it themselves. The tempo can range from 80- 110 bpm. Characteristics of Afrobeat include big bands, long instrumental solos, and complex jazzy and offbeat rhythms. This genre is popular and big artists such as Burna Boy, Oxlade and tems have a big part in it. An example of this is French Montana’s Unforgetable’. It was a jumpy kick and Snare pattern which replicates afro music

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTFtOOh47oo

Styles of music that make up afrobeats largely began sometime in the late 90s and early-mid-2000s. With the launching of MTV Base Africa in 2005, West Africa was given a large platform through which artists could grow. Artists such as MI Abaga, Naeto C and Sarkodie were among the first to take advantage of this, however most of the artists were merely making interpretations of American hip hop and R&B. Prior to this, groups such as Trybesmen, Plantashun Boiz, and The Remedies were early pioneers that fused modern American influences from hip-hop and R&B with local melodies.

Where UK Drill came about

A sub-genre called afro drill has also had a come up in African and the UK, so a fusion of those two genres made a unique sound.

Another sub-genre which is popular in the UK is called UK Drill. It has widened around the world and artists like drake, Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran have even made songs in the genre. Its been around for a while know, but I would say Grime and Afrobeats influenced it. Nowadays sample drill is what’s popular and seen going viral on social media platforms like TikTok. I think these sample are what’s keeping UK drill trendy and bettering it.

In my opinion, I think social media impacts the reach and views artists get today. I’ve seen a lot of artists go viral because of TikTok so I think social media is a huge part of the marketing/ advertising of songs.

What is an AAA Structue?

Strophic form (AAA) is a song structure in which all verses or stanzas of the text are sung to the same music.

This song structure is often found in church music, classical, jazz, folk, and pop music. An instrumental version of the strophic form is called a variation form. This form’s other name is theme and variation form. It involves repeating a musical theme. Usually, in a concluded melody with harmonic accompaniment, but each time varying the melody.

The structure is identified through it’s three-part musical form consisting of an opening section (A), a following section (B) and then a repetition of the first section (A).
