The U.S Was afraid communism would spread around the world, so it used its foreign policy to fight against it without starting another world war.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The U.S. gave aid to European countries not just to help them recover, but to keep them from turning to communism. Countries that were poor and desperate were more likely to accept help from the USSR - so the U.S. stepped in first with the Marshall Plan.</p>]]></description>
