Letter to Mom
Dear Mom, Today i’m playing my first game in the major league!  I’ve been practicing like crazy for my first game as a second basemen.  They have me sleeping down in the kitchen because the white folks down here don’t want me sleeping on the same level as them.  I wish they would accept me as a person just like them.  I hope you are enjoying your retirement because you did everything for me when I was young. Maybe one day I can retire and enjoy the rest of my life with my sweet and loving wife.  The Kansas City Monarch said that I would be hitting 4th so I can get a hit and steal all the bases.  I hope to see you at some of my games.

When I played sports I was really fast
There were other kids but I flew right past
I loved to run track
Even in a big pack

I was the only black man in Baseball
I was also put in that famous hall
My moms name was Millie
She was really silly

Now came my  retirement  at a good age
I held that big trophy on that big stage
I loved Rachel my beautiful wife
I thank God every day for such a good life






]]> 2018-01-04 15:32:09 UTC https://padlet.com/aidsmi001/kf38mtowx4br/wish/218762210 diary Entry aidsmi001 https://padlet.com/aidsmi001/kf38mtowx4br/wish/218859277 Dear Diary,I finally played my 1st game today.  I had 2 balls thrown at my head.  But I dodged them both.  The 1st pitch I actually got I swung as hard as I can and hit the ball for a double.  Then I went on to steal 3rd Base and home.  The next to times I was up I got hit by a pitch and got a single which then led to me stealing two bases and getting to 3rd.  It was a really hard and fun 1st game.  But we won by 2 points in a walk off double to end off the game.  I wish everyone would just act like im a human just like them.

His mom raised him from birth because his father told his mom he was going to see his brother but never returned. He worked when he was young as a farmers aid. He went to a community college in Connecticut. He played multiple sports including baseball, basketball, football, and track. He was very athletic and strong. Once he was out of college he decided to go into the military. He served two years in the military as a canon aid and as a canon loader. After the war he went back to Connecticut to find a job. When he was walking in the neighborhood a ball came flying and he caught the ball. The people were so impressed they told him he could play.
