After listening to the podcast and reading the lecture, it was hard to choose which topic to focus on, especially when every single topic was very interesting. Essentially it came down to which one am I more passionate about. In the end, I chose to focus on women of color in the United States and the challenges they face.

This topic falls under social sustainability. This will always be changing, it has evolved over time and it has come far from the past, but there are still things that we can still improve on. The reason why I chose it was that the world is an ever-changing place and it can be terrifying, thanks to social media, there are countless amount of videos of women sharing their experiences about being discriminated against. This research is important because it has to show just how often and how traumatizing it all can be. It's important to me because as a woman, it's terrifying to see all these women of color being harassed and seeing all the discrimination hurt them. It scares me, even more, when it comes to women who are immigrants and all the racism that comes their way just because they don't speak or understand English well.

I hope to learn statistics, how these women are able to face their challenges on a daily basis.

This would allow me to become more familiar with medical terms.

What Was Difficult about the reading process: The part that was challenging to me was definitely trying to understand the academic language because, in years past, the academic language was simpler, but this time they were difficult to understand.

What helped: Looking up definitions of words really help me understand medical phrases and terms when they were used, I also liked to look up certain facts to see if they were still accurate even if the article was recent.

Questions about the reading: Currently, I have no questions about the reading.

The narrative about my topic: According to the general narrative about my topic, it's common to hear about the experiences of women of color and how they are mistreated during treatments. After doing research into my antithesis, I've realized how difficult it can be to talk about traumatic experiences when you may want to forget it happened.

The Counter-Narrative on my topic: My counter-narrative would be that the healthcare that women of color receive is equal and fair. The issues that are reported are just minor incidents with professionals getting fired for their mistreatment.

How this counter-narrative can help solve the problem you are writing about: The counter-narrative can help me understand that the issues may be underreported and that there are professionals who got fired for their actions. It'll help me get a better understanding of how cases like these are not the center of attention in the media.

After arriving on the scene with my partner, Officer Johnson, we approached the front door with cation with our weapons drawn. Officer Johnson announced our presence three times before breaking down the door. As we entered the residence, we carefully checked each room to ensure that it was indeed clear, as I approached the office room door, I saw a Caucasian female laying on the floor near her desk, I approached the woman with caution. I yelled at my partner that I had found someone laying on the office floor and I will be checking for a pulse, I told him to radio an ambulance and to ask other officers their ETA. When I approached the female, she appeared not to be breathing, I checked her neck for a pulse and confirmed that there was none.
