First, the population would change because people live in the mountains. People live in the mountains and have villages there and there  are many communities there that can’t just leave so if the mountain range didn’t exist than they would move somewhere else which would probably be somewhere more populated if not somewhere with still a pretty good population so population would increase in a lot of places.
