The 'purpose is to ensure that all students understand that they are all a team and that it is important that they all help one another in their educational journeys.

Reply to Janelle Padlet
I enjoy reading your Padlet and your pictures are excellent.
One example how teachers can ensure that their newcomers transitions smoothly in their new school environment is by making the students feel welcome by providing a classroom that is safe and secure. I like the idea of assigning a student buddy for the new comer at least for the first or two weeks until they can adapt to the school environment and daily routines. Once they get used to it, they will be able to successfully learn and be better achievers. New comers usually feel intimidated by their new surrounding as some of them come from smaller schools in their native countries.

Exit ticket:

One example of how to transition newcomers smoothly in their new environment is assigning them a mentor student. Having a buddy will break the ice and let them feel welcomed on their level. It’s not like a teacher who’s like an authoritative figure. A new comer can partner up with an advanced ESL student to help transition throughout the day. He/she can go with them throughout their schedule and show them the ropes around the school.
