Although there were more conflicts in 1679, the causes of conflicts changed between 1676 and 1739 due to the fact that the conflicts were being brought to English officials. Rebellions like Bacon's rebellion and the Stono rebellion only involved the form of government that was present in that specific colony, while in the years closer to 1739, conflicts were brought to officials in England. For example King Phillips War had a bigger impact due to the fact that the King was involved and officials from England came over to the colonies.

Between the years 1676 and 1739, rebellion was abundant for several different reasons including, religious zeal, enslavement, and colonial security. However, conflict was often sparked through oppression of a higher power such as Europe or the wealthy, and the rebellions often did not reach their long term goal. Therefore, there is more continuity in the cause of conflicts between the late 1600s and early 1700s because of the similar economic, social, and political structures of this time.

The United States was filled with conflict, during 1676 to 1739, that stemmed from varying different motives surrounding economics, social, and religion. However, all shared the causes of an oppressed group rising up against the elites/the government and limits being set by those in power. During this time, this continuity in conflict prospered due to minimal alterations in societal power (surrounding government). Therefore, there was more continuity in causes rather than changes.
