How does Apess characterize the whites and the Natives, and how does his viewpoints differ from all other authors? What things do Apess condemn that other authors do not touch on?

The point of doing so is to immediately throw any authority that comes with that status to the ground - in the first paragraph, he writes "-the blood of a king is no better than that of the subject". To further this point, he introduces himself in the third person, with his opening line being "William Apess, the author of the following narrative-". This is, I believe, to present himself as an unbiased speaker, and he uses this position to further humble himself, stating that both he's only as valuable as any random person. 

 Apess also uses the terminology "daughters being claimed by the whites" - implying that they were raped. He takes no pride in having royal blood but instead brings himself down to the same level as everyone else. He writes about although he has royal blood, he's able to relate to Native Americans as he is part of that culture. In this way, Apess is able to appeal to credibility because he talks about himself not as part of a royal family, but as part of a Native community. This is able to establish his authority because he is able to sympathize and communicate at a closer level with other NATIVES as he relates to them. He also establishes himself, indirectly, as a Christian. Many people back then, especially Natives, weren't christians. White settlers were the ones who influenced the christian religion on the land meaning that in some sense it would be ironic to be a christian while being a native American. In a sense this probably helped with his credibility because he can relate to both sides of the spectrum. What happens in paragraph 3 is very drastic. Women were claimed as property which took away the glory of the Natives. This was probably because there was no longer going to be a pure race of Natives. He deeply explains different experiences, such as whipping, braking of bones, etc... He doesn't directly express his hatred or anger towards those who hurt him, but he does indirectly express a sense of anger towards those who made his life miserable. On the other hand, he seems to be very appreciative towards those who helped fed him and cared for him throughout the rest of his childhood. That is to say that all of the abuse he endured was only symptomatic of a larger issue - in the next sentence, he writes "I attribute it in a great measure to the whites,-". and later on, he writes "I do not make this statement in order to justify those who had treated me so unkindly, but simply to show that, inasmuch as I was thus treated only when they were under the influence of spirituous liquor, that the whites were justly chargeable with at least some portion of my sufferings". In these two paragraphs, Apess doesn't seem aggrieved from a certain group of individuals. He uses his past experience to point out how his suffering wasn't solely caused from one race. He states "the whited were justly chargeable with at least some portion of my suffering."
