Naisha Kanodia

In this unit, I learned a lot about geography and the economy. I discovered how geography can influence economic activities, like how certain regions are better suited for agriculture or industry. Understanding these concepts helps me see why cities develop in specific locations and how resources are distributed around the world.

I believe we’re studying these concepts to better understand the world we live in. Knowing about geography and the economy helps us make sense of current events and prepares us for future challenges. It also shows us the connections between different countries and how global trade works.

During the unit, I developed important learner attributes like critical thinking and problem-solving. I learned to analyze data, make connections between different pieces of information, and think about how geographical factors affect economic outcomes.

The activities in this unit, like mapping exercises and economic simulations, helped me learn more than other activities we've done. For example, looking at data and graphs and analysing them to see which countries are in which stages of economic development was very enlightening.

I still have some questions about the unit that I would like to explore further. For instance, I am curious about how technology is changing the geography of economies and how climate change might affect future economic activities.

In this unit, I learned about different economic sectors like primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary, and their impact on global economies and employment. I also looked into my carbon footprint, the importance of energy conservation, and how different energy sources affect the environment. These activities helped me develop critical thinking, inquiry, and research skills, linking my studies to real-world applications. I am interested in learning more about sustainable practices and understanding the specifics of the quaternary sector. I wish to explore how different countries handle their energy resources and the lasting effects on global interactions and economic growth.

Sivah Navle

1. What did you learn that you will take with you in this unit?

In this unit, we practice many skills by researching, collecting data, analysing it, drawing conclusions and suggesting possible changes to our overall process. These skills are not only necessary in this subject, but also need to be applied in real life situations.

2. What learner attributes did you develop during the unit?

I feel I developed the learner profile attribute communicator during this unit. Many tasks throughout this journey required us to analyse data and sources and use this attribute to communicate certain points. For example, for the Summative assessment i studied the electricity usage in our household, analysed it, and used this learner profile attribute to communicate my observations , inferences, and suggestions to decrease use of electricity.

3. Do you still have any questions about the unit that you would still want to explore?

I do not have any additional questions on this unit. I would still like to explore data analysis in detail though.
