This self-taken photography does represent the simple and impulsive side of my personality. As a matter of fact, I captured this photo unintentionally, leading to the fact that there were no specific intentions of setting backgrounds or adjusting lighting effects manually. In this photo, natural lights are the first thing that can be spot on from the first glance. To be more specific, I let the natural light cast on the side of the photo, thus highlighting a part of the subject’s face. In addition, it is the color that draws the viewers into this picture as well. The use of warm color tone with a reddish bijou stroke from the rose creates a sense of coziness and familiarity. Besides, the subject’s composition as well as the rose as a prop somehow represent myself as a dreamy girl, yet simple and elegant. The style implemented in this photo is minimalism in which the beauty of simplicity and aesthetic is prioritized. This photo can be considered as a source for those who are the suckers for the allure of minimalism.

Thus, it does wonders for defining an individual's identity. In my work, the map becomes the surface in which the image of the subject is drawn upon. My self-map is created to intensify the connection between the “self” part of mine and the place that I have bonded with for a lifetime. In this case, it is Vietnam, my country. Through this work of mine, I want to emphasize the fact that the ultimate link between me and my country is inseparable. This self-map actually reflects on my style, in which simplicity and aesthetics play important roles. The colors that I used to draw the subject are based on the color vibe of the map, fortifying the connection between the subject and the map. As a result, this work does help me define my values and my preferred style in design.
