Science Dice provide an engaging hands-on approach to supporting children to recall science-specific vocabulary and to apply it in their science learning. For British Science Week 2025, the Primary Science Teaching Trust (PSTT) will be running inspirational science days for schools. Our award-winning teachers will deliver four online lessons – one for each key stage (including EYFS) – which can be accessed by all schools in your region.

Note – if you can’t attend the date for the South of England, you can book onto an online science day in another region.

Each lesson introduces a scientific investigation linked to this year's theme, 'Change and Adapt', which will be curriculum linked and easy to resource. Our teacher will talk directly to the children, introduce the context and explain what to do. Each school’s class teacher will need to support the investigation and later in the day, children from participating schools will have the opportunity to feedback their discoveries.

Participating schools will receive a guidance pack before the event detailing the Zoom link, timings and resources needed for the event.

Participants will be selected through national events held in over 30 countries throughout 2025. In the UK, the Association for Science Education (ASE) serves as the National Steering Committee (NSC) and oversees the selection process for UK representatives.

The Engage Grant provides £350 in grant funding for schools to support the delivery of CREST Awards. This funding can be used for materials, equipment, field trips, teacher CPD and more.

In addition, schools awarded the grant will receive up to £350 worth of CREST Awards for free.

The Explorify Art Competition encourages children to showcase their understanding of scientific concepts through original artwork, whether it's drawing, painting, sculpting or another creative medium. Winning entries will be turned into new 'Start With Art' activities on the Explorify platform and receive a £50 book token.

The examples of work have been removed from the original versions of the Working Scientifically Matrices and Working Scientifically Examples of Work have been created for each skill in each year-group. They provide annotated examples of work of children that are secure in each of the elements of the ‘Key learning’ for each of the skills for the phase. Open to UK teachers to apply. The CPD session should be for at least 15 participants and promote methods and tools which strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork

These sustainability-themed activities are suitable for UKS2 classes, focus on children learning about the properties and suitability of materials: Future Friendly Plastics.

You’ll receive a pilot copy of the classroom activities to use with your class during summer 2 in exchange for providing feedback in a short survey in early July.

Following the pilot, you will be asked to complete a short feedback form by 10th July. All schools returning feedback will be entered into a prize draw for £100 worth of science equipment.

Three rounds designed to challenge your children in a fun and collaborative way!

Open to all UK Primary Schools, this quiz is aimed at Year 4 – 6 (England and Wales) and Primary 5 – 7 (Scotland and NI).

Schools can apply for support in one of the following areas:

• Getting started with working scientifically

• Strengthening science in your phase (3–5, 5–7, 7–9, 9–12)

• Getting to grips with leading science (for science subject leaders)

Sessions are available as either:

• Half-day CPD

• Two twilight sessions with a gap task

The support is intended for schools that are new to PSTT’s in-school support and can involve teachers from a single school, group of schools, federation or MAT.

As places are limited, applications will be reviewed based on eligibility, demand and available capacity.
