The rule of thirds has been applied to structure the appearance of the album. Gabrielles image is in the centre square, ensuring that she is the focus of attention. This is something that I could apply to my own digipak as i need to ensure that our artist has 'star appeal' (from the theory stars and stardom) Whats more, having little in the background or foreground makes her stand out more. Additionally she is in a colour which juxtaposes the grey background and means that she appears happy and inspiring to the surrounding environment. It could be said that this will encourage people to buy the album as she is made to seem different from her surrounding, the night in the darkness. The album theme is also something they can relate to which is very stereotypical for our chosen genre.
Significantly, these are two different types of fonts used on the album front cover. The artists names is in serif font which usually symbolises a more traditional and classic style. This could represent Gabrielles attempt at portraying herself as an experience artist, opposing her 'newbie' satis In contrast, the album title is in a sans serif font which looks as though it been handwritten. This acts as synthetic personalisation and allows the audience to feel as though the album has been constructed purely for them. Thus, they are encouraged to buy the album as they feel its directed at them, direct address is very stereotypical for our chosen genre.

It too follows the rule of thirds which structures the page neatly. Again, the text is centred which ensures that the track list is the central point of focus. The lighter grey space in the clouds allows the writing to be clearly visible on both panels, making it clearer and quicker for the audience to read. This is something I defiantly want to take into my own work to ensure that the album can be picked up and interpreted immediately.
The don't that has been chosen for the back cover is the handwritten one used for the album title on the font. Although one would assume that the serif font would be chosen due to it being easier to read, one can identify many reasons for the second font being chosen. It suggests to the audience that each song has been written with purpose and a meaning, much like the album title. Futhermore, the font could be written by Gabrielle herself, making the album tittle,. The album spine is plain black with white text. This continues the black and white colour scheme and ensures that if the album is on someones shelf it is easy to identify. This would be crucial for the artist to ensure that their album is listened to regular in order to create and identity for themselves and allow people to freely listen. The parlophone logo feature on the spine and at the bottom; this could be something I consider when constructing my own digioak as I will need to put the record label logo somewhere on mine. The bright colours contrast the black and white colour scheme for the rest of the album and indicate that the songs have a higher tempo and are mostly based on happier topics. Whats more, the colours are ethically pleasing and attract the audiences eye. Therefore, the audience is able to recognise the disc straight away and acknowledge that it will make them happy when they buy it.

However, I want to use a lift alignment for my album while still ensuring that out artist is the mean focus as i feel that this will give it some variation and make sure there is slightly more going on visually. I like the use of handwritten font and I plan on using a font similar. Using the rule of thirds would allow my digipak to be more strutted and means that I'm not overcrowding it or taking the focus away from our artist. 
I really like the idea for the disc as I think it ties the whole idea of the album toghther. English people would typically carry an umbrella in the rain all the time and constant theme of it and the fact that its bright draws attention to the britishness of the album.
