These are the foods to avoid or limit when on a healthy diet include:

refined grains
highly processed foods
added sugar and salt
red and processed meat
alcohol
trans fats

Based on my earlier research on healthy and balanced diet, I had decided to cook 3 dishes, namely steam fish, vegetables and steam egg. Main considerations include they are simple to cook and not time-consuming. And most importantly, it is a healthier choice and less cleaning is needed at the end of my cooking.

My family members had tried the 3 dishes that I had cooked. Positive comments are provided especially from my mum. As this is the first time that I am cooking, I think there is still room for improvement. To cook a meal for a family of 4, it is not as easy as one think. To prepare a meal, one has to think of what to cook, followed by buying of ingredients, preparing and cooking the food. I would like to have more cooking practices and will continue to cook other simple dishes in Term 3 SIL.

I did online research on what is the best kind of yarn to use to make a keychain soft toy and what kind of sewing thread to use so that the keychain soft toy can be nicely put together.

from my research, I had learnt that the finest yarn that is used to make keychain soft toys is cotton or acrylic, which are medium-weighted yarn/worsted weight yarn. I have also learnt that cotton would be a better type of sewing thread to use compared to others because it is stronger and a lot softer. (might end up buying milk cotton instead because its cheaper and way softer)

I did some research on some of the patterns I can create on the bracelets. The first, also the easiest and less time-consuming, is the braided bracelet. For this pattern, I can use three different colors of thread and braid them.

The next few bracelets are the diagonal, chevron and shape bracelets. These bracelets are much harder to tie and takes up more of my time. To tie them, I would need to first learn how to tie the four different basic knots which I will learn the next session.

I haven't played tennis in a long time so I started off today with a few basic forehands and backhands to get back the feeling

however, I realized that I mostly forgot how to do the basics so after trying and mostly failing, I decided to watch some online youtube videos and practice the movement against the wall

difficulties I faced: with cca and discussion of group projects i didn't have the chance to go to the tennis court so had play squash with the wall

I did online research on beginner rope skipping and I found this website with videos and tips for beginners.
From the website, I know that skipping can allow us to burn at least 1074 kcal/h and can help us t improve our endurance and athleticism.
Some other tips it shared with us are:

Keep your head up, chest up, and head looking forward
Keep your shoulders pulled back and your elbows held down and back
Keep your hands along the midline of your body
Use your wrists to turn the rope (not your elbows or shoulders)
I think these are all very important as it is important to learn the correct form and posture before skipping to avoid muscle soreness and injuries.
There are also videos that can help us to see a demonstration which can help us visualize what the steps are suppose to look like and that we are doing it correctly.

Today I tried the alcohol markers I bought on Amazon and wrote about my likes and dislikes about the marker. I first swatched the colours as you can see from the top, and then proceeded to draw with pencil, lastly colouring the sketch in. This was without any YouTube video or reference since I wanted to see how I would do without any tutorial on how to use alcohol markers more nicely. Although I do agree that alcohol markers are quite cool, I still do not see why it is so popular, I will be researching about that in the next few weeks and seeing more tutorials on how to actually use it :D The total drawings took me around 3 hours although it doesn’t seem like it! I’m not very used to using alcohol markers yet but I hope to improve after this SIL activity

Through different websites and some searching, I have decided to make a platformer game that you can shoot and run in. As I had trouble understanding how to code the platformer blocks, I searched it up and found out that I needed to use the variables to control the y(gravity) so that the character will not glitch through it and render the game unplayable.

I did online research on how to draw some basic character faces and some tips on how to better improve my drawing.

Through my research, I learned the basic structure of the face and how to create that, I also learned how to draw the different facial features such as nose, mouth, and eyes. The eyes portion is extremely important as it is the distinctive feature that allows anime/manga style to stand out. A tip I have learned today is to use guidelines when drawing my character, this is to quickly draw a pose, compare body shapes and sizes, and avoid anatomy errors.

Today I identified the 2 types of cakes I will be learning to bake for the next few lessons, chocolate and vanilla cake. I also did research on these two types of cakes for their recipes.

From the recipes, I realized that baking both cakes are actually really simple. Most of the steps are straightforward, and both cakes have similar steps and ingredients. For example, both cakes require the whisking and stirring of ingredients in a bowl, before pouring the batter into the prepared pans, and then baking. Both cakes also require ingredients such as eggs, milk, flour, baking powder, and sugar.

Looking at the recipes also gave me a general idea of the steps used to bake the cake, and also some ideas for the 2 recipes I will have to create next BCD.

I used an app to learn some basic thai and I learnt that “P” is to call someone older than me in an informal yet respectful manner and “Nong” is to call someone younger than me in an informal and respectful manner. While “Khun” is to call someone more respectfully and formally and “ai” to call someone close to me informally and can also be considered rude if I called someone not close to me “ai”.

I also learnt that “hia” is to call someone older than me that is usually used by thai-chinese families and are only used to call older males usually an older brother.

After some research, I found this tutorial (Youtube), which explains the process of how to draw both hands and feet.

Firstly, after watching the tutorial, I practiced drawing sketches of hands on some scrap paper and blank pages on the backs of worksheets I had on hand (hehe hand pun :D).

Secondly, I took pictures of the sketches that looked the best out of all of those that I had drawn and transferred them into my PLD. Then, I used the "IbisPaint X" Drawing App to draw the hands.

Through a lot of trial and error, I finally drew 2 hands I was satisfied with.

In the end, I coloured these hands in to practice my shading and lighting (unrelated to SIL).

Although these hands might look a little awkward to me in how they are positioned, I still feel proud of myself for being able to draw hands (somewhat realistically).

I'll keep practicing drawing hands in my own time! :D

Today, i had watched some videos about crotcheting granny squares to get a better idea of how to make them. I have always wanted to know how to make granny squares. They are super useful, and can be sewn together to make different things.
I had also came across this picture of a granny square sunflower bag on pintrest a month ago, and really wanted to make it. (I lost that picture). So hence, i have decided to make the granny squares of sunflowers (it looks pretty ugly compared to the picture i saw, probably the yarn colour?).

And after watching those videos, i decided to be 'ambitious' and decided to make the granny squares myself without a specific pattern, just referencing to the photo i found on Pinterest. So as you can see in the photo, the granny squares are curling up because i had put too little stitches outside the square. And unfortunately (very unfortunately) i only realised that after i had tied the knot of the square, and there wasn't anything i could do about it unless i redid the whole thing.

This lesson was fun and i learnt the basics of granny squares

based on my earlier research on the best type of yarn to use and sowing thread to use for keychains, i decided to crochet the ice bear from we bare bears. main considerations include they are simple to crochet, not too many materials needed and can match with my best friends. it also have to be small but cute and attractive. i chose the ice bear out of the 3 bears because it requires the least type of yarns and it describes my personality. He seems to not be very conversant, as Ice Bear generally speaks in one-liners and very vague sentences and responds through action instead.

After my research two weeks ago, I tried tying the four basic knots. With these 4 basic knots, I can tie different patterns on the friendship bracelets.

- Forward knot: Put the string on the far left on top of the second string, which should look like a number "4". Then loop the string under the second string and pull upwards tightly. Repeat the step again to finish the knot.

For all the tips :DD

Things ive learned:
1. Keep paper wet with the alcohol inks instead of waiting for it to dry then blending
2. The colourless blender doesn't actually work well- its better to use colours to blend instead
3. We dont have to use a different colour all the time, for shadows or gradients we can use layering
4. Use better quality paper!! Better quality paper allows less bleeding through the paper and better gradients
5. Colouring sections instead of jumping from one place to another :) Less awkward blotches on the paper

All these new tips have allowed me to make an improvement from the last bcd activity, today's one look less streaky and more clean which was my goal from the start!

What I did today was trying out gradients, using the tips to draw a character and using microns(marker) for cleaner look >:D

After scanning through the multiple tutorials, I found this method of drawing the torso of the body to be the most effective when compared to other similar videos. Although this tutorial is nearly twice as long as the other videos, the method produces the most natural-looking body compared to the other methods employed.

Firstly, after I found the tutorial I wanted, I practiced sketching out multiple types of torsos in my sketchbook, and determined the reference I wanted to use.

Secondly, similar to the previous attempt, I also transferred the reference picture into my PLD and started copying it out. However, as I had gotten a little too ambitious, I decided to draw 2 torsos instead of 1, which then morphed into attempting to sketch 2 entire bodies.

Eventually, I realised my mistake, and narrowed down the 2 drawings into 1 that I preferred drawing. But due to the wasted time I spent perfecting the 2 sketches, I had to simplify the drawing and ended up finishing it haphazardly, which in my opinion did not look as good as I had hoped for.

In the end, since I also have other commitments to attend to, I will not be able to make the drawing as nice as I wanted to.

In the future, I'll make sure to manage my time properly.

I struggled with the gravity of the character's movements, but eventually found out how to do it. I added some clouds and a backdrop for the environment, along with finishing and animating the character's movements.

today, i did some online research on how anime characters are drawn. first, face shape are a key characteristic of anime characters. When drawing the outer shape of an anime face in the front view it may be helpful to think of it as being composed of three basic shapes: circle, quadrilateral and triangle. next, face proportions. for eyes, draw a horizontal line directly through the middle of the head and draw the eyes below that line. for ears, make a second horizontal line between the halfway line and the chin and draw the ears between those two lines. for nose should be above the line used for the bottom of the ears. for mouth, draw a line between the bottom of ears/nose line to get the position of the bottom lip (not actually drawn in the illustration) and draw the mouth just slightly above that

I have decided that for the next sil session, i will be using kazuha from genshin as my reference for some rough sketches.

I decided to research on how to make a strawberry cake for today.

I learnt how to bake a strawberry cake and took note of these points from the video.
-bowl and beater must not contain water, should be clean and dry
-add 1/4 tsp of lemon juice or salt or cream of tartar before the whisk
-add sugar little by little during the whisk
-eggs should be at room temperature
-do not mix egg whites with egg yolk

In this session, I learnt how to tie a normal and easiest braided friendship bracelet. To tie it, I will need to master the skills of braided.

First, cut out three different color strings which are the same length. Fold the strings into half and tie a knot. Tape or secure the strings to the table. Next, braid the strings. When I have reached the desirable length I want for the braids, tie a knot. An adjustable knot is suggested so that the user can adjust the bracelet according to the size of their wrist. Lastly, to create an adjustable knot, put the end of the strings into the knot at the top of the strings. Create a shape like a rainbow and put the end of the strings into the knot at the top of the strings. The braided friendship bracelet is done!

i used these websites to help me learn kanji and their meanings. i thought that because the words looked like chinese, i would have an advantage in learning kanji (BUT I WAS TERRIBLY MISTAKEN) although the words mostly had the same meanings, the pronunciations were completely different and it was very hard for me to memorise. kanji also has more than one pronunciation for each word (onyomi and kunyomi) so i was unsure of which to learn first. i did some research and i found that onyomi was taken from chinese words, and was normally used for standalone characters while kunyomi was the japanese own words which was normally used for compound words. it was hard to memorise the kanji while still trying to keep my knowledge of chinese decent, and i ended up only managing to memorise 30 kanji

Then, I tried drawing feet based on these references, and I decided to make a brief tutorial on how to draw feet since I felt the previous attempts on drawing hands and feet did not communicate what I had learnt very effectively.

Why are alcohol markers popular/ expensive? (research)

1. Alcohol evaporates fast, making alcohol markers quick to dry. There’s less chance of smudging your work. If you accidentally spill a drop of water on your work, it won’t immediately bleed and ruin the art work. I think this feature is very useful since I'm usually very clumsy so this would help me a lot.

2. Alcohol markers are excellent blending markers that can create exciting layering techniques. They have a fluid consistency that makes them easy to apply on top of one another, and blend and shade to create smooth transitions. I think this feature too is very useful since most of the marker I usually use tend to be very streaky and leave the marker lines on the paper. Its very frustrating annoying to look at and i cant make everything the same transparency unless i rip the paper using my markers- Using alcohol markers will surely save me the trouble of that

3. Alcohol markers deliver vibrant color and intensity and are resistant to fading. That intensity, along with their fluid inks, makes them perfect for creating realistic images, such as portraits and landscapes, as well as abstract images, illustrations, and cartoons.This feature also is very useful. I know that sometimes the cheap markers that i used to have had ink that faded over time. A few weeks and the colour was gone, I could see the white underneath the colours now. With these alcohol markers, I wouldn't need to worry over that and plus I can enjoy the bright colour intensity that again cheap markers dont have.

Considering all these factors, although I think the alcohol markers are amazing, I still dont think that they're worth so much. However, I do understand why it is so expensive and popular now.

In this session, I learnt how to tie a diagonal chevron bracelet. To tie it, I only need to master the skills of forward knot.

First, cut out any four colors of my choice and ensure that they are the same length. Tie a knot and use a pin or tape to secure the knot to the table. Then start with the first string, use the forward knot to tie a knot on the second string. Repeat the steps with the third and fourth string. Next, use the string on the most left, repeat the forward knot on the second, third and fourth string. Keep tying the knots and make sure that they are tight. Lastly, when it reaches the end of the string, tie a normal knot. The diagonal friendship bracelet is done!

I made an oc with the tecgniques, colours and ideas i had :D I named her angelite because of no particular reason that I know of :> I used ohuhu alcoho markers, pencil and white gelly roll pen to make this. I like the end result of this oc and I think its better than my first few attempts of making art with alcohol markers. I now understand how to use alcohol markers better and I'm happy to have the experience of learning more about these amazing markers :D

The SIL sessions on each BCD day was fun. Through these 4 sessions, I have learnt more about friendship bracelets and how to tie them. I have also learnt to be patient through the process as sometimes I would get frustrated when I tied the wrong knots. Even though the session has ended, I will continue learning the different patterns of friendship bracelets and making them for my friends!

today, i learnt more kanji using wanikani. i realised that kanji was similar to traditional chinese which seemed way more complicated than simplified chinese. but i managed to learn 50 kanji today.

i also attempted to read a chapter of a manga in japanese, which is known as "よつばで!" or "yotsuba&!". it is a slice of life manga about a five year old girl named yotsuba, and it is mainly targetted at younger children aged 4-6 years old. although the contents of the manga was aimed at little children in japan, it was very nice for me to attempt to use the little knowledge i had of japanese to try and apply it into stuff i enjoyed reading. although it was difficult, i had managed to read and understand some of the words :D

through this sil, i managed to further immerse myself into the japanese culture beyond the japanese shows and comics that i find myself interested in. this sil allowed me to deepen my knowledge on the japanese language, enabling me to further respect and understand the japanese culture. at times during the sil, i felt myself getting burnt out while learning japanese, because i found it difficult to get myself to understand a completely new language. however, i persevered and managed to learn more than what i had expected myself to learn, and i find that it is a big improvement from when i had known little to nothing about the language, to being able to read all the hiragana, katakana and some kanji.

Today I made 2 recipes for the 2 cakes I will be baking in the following SIL sessions, the chocolate cake and vanilla cake.

Recipe 1 (Chocolate)

Ingredients:
4 cups of white sugar
2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
1.5 tsp of baking powder
1.5 tsp of baking soda
1.5 tsp of salt
3 eggs
1.5 cups of milk
1.5 cups of vegetable oil
2 tsp of vanilla extract
1 cup of warm water

Steps:
1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees C.
2. Grease vegetable oil on a cake pan and flour the cake pan. Make sure flour and butter are spread evenly, and pour out any excess flour. Optional: Line with parchment
3. Using a large bowl, pour the sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa and salt in, and mix until combined.
4. Crack 3 eggs, and add to the mixture. Add in milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and warm water, and beat on a low speed until smooth.
5. Pour batter into cake pan and tap cake pan gently on the counter.
6. Place in oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
7. Cool cake pan for around 10 minutes, before removing cake from the pan to cool completely.
8. Serve and enjoy!

Recipe 2 (Vanilla)

Ingredients:
7 cups of white sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp of baking powder
1.5 cups of milk
3 eggs
1 tbsp of vanilla extract
120g of butter
1/2 tsp of salt
1 tbsp of vegetable oil

Steps:
1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees C
2. Flour and oil cake pan. Optional: Line with parchment.
3. Add flour, baking powder and salt into a large bowl. Whisk until combined.
4. In another bowl, crack the 3 eggs, and add in 3 cups sugar. Beat eggs until sugar and eggs combine.
5. In another bowl, add in butter and sugar. Keep mixing until light and fluffy.
6. Pour egg mixture into butter and sugar mixture, and beat egg mixture in until both are combined.
7. Beat in vanilla extract. Beat in flour mixture in 3 batches, alternating with milk. Make sure alternation starts and ends with flour mixture. After beating is done, resulting mixture should be smooth.
8. Empty batter into prepared cake pan. Place in oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
9. Cool pan for around 10 minutes, before extracting cake from pan to cool.
10. Serve and enjoy!

through the sil sessions, i had a lot of fun baking. through the process, i was also able to learn to be perseverant and adaptable. for example, when i was baking, i realised that i did not have dark chocolate and i also could not find it at the convenience store so i had to buy milk chocolate instead and tweak the recipe a little to make sure that the cookies do not turn out too sweet. the sil sessions were very enjoyable for me and i would definitely look for more recipes to try out at home.

so i FINALLY FINISHED MY BEAR. but i forgot to take a picture of it since i ended up giving it to my aunt for her 21st birthday. anyways, i learnt the importance of details and being careful. i messed a lot at the start because i was too tired and bored to do it properly. so after an hour of watching my dramas, i suddenly had the motivation to crochet the bear again. every time the hook goes through the yarn, i would make adjustments to it afterwards like tightening it, so that it does not become bigger than expected.

when i gave my aunt the we bare bears amigurumi, she was so happy with it. it did give me a sense of satisfaction and made me pleased, knowing the fact that my hard work managed to make someone delighted. from this tiring yet fulfilling activity, i learnt that perseverance is one of the most important values to have and that perseverance will come with good results. i redid this crochet many times so that it would be perfect. i guess these repeated tries were worth it. however, i would not like to crochet things like this again as it took up too much time and i am very lazy. it also made me really annoyed every time i did not do it right because i have to waste more time to redo it.

Through this SIL, I learnt how to use alcohol markers better, new techniques for alcohol markers and I also found out why it is so popular! Knowing how to use a new art material I had no experience in before this SIL activity makes this experience very fulfilling and enriching :D The things I've learnt from my research will definitely be useful when I'm using alcohol markers for any art project. It was a very enjoyable and fun activity overall

I learnt about the survival korean for travellers today which will be helpful for me when I go to korea next time or when I watch korean videos/dramas as it is the basic korean words and phrases that we need to learn. Some examples that I had learnt is 성 which is the family name, that is known as our last name, another word I learnt is 이름, which can refer to both the full name and given name

I showed my family my code, and allowed them to test it. They were amazed by the code and told me to continue learning it. After this SIL, I feel that I have learnt a lot throughout the weeks, and I feel that I made a lot of progress and finally made a functioning code. If there are any other opportunities to do self-learning, I would want to try to improve on what I have learnt during this SIL and make more code with different functions next time.

Throughout this enriching and fun SIL project I think I can comfortably say that I have sort of learned the piano. This new found skill will benefit me in the future as I can use this skill to impress people(hehe). Through this SIL journey I also learnt to always try to pick up new skills as it would benefit me in the future.

It was my 3rd swim class and my teacher wanted me to sum up what I have learnt for the past 2 lessons. I started swimming laps and i would say that I have mastered the basic skill of swimming.

Through this SIL, I learnt that swimming is not a really hard thing to do. I was always scared of water when I was younger and did not dare to try and swim. However, I mastered up the courage to try something new this year and it was not as bad as I thought it would be. This is a very enriching experience and I am glad that I have mastered a surviving skill and also allow my body to keep fit.

The cake may have looked good on the outside, but its taste was not satisfactory. Instead of its intended sweet chocolatey taste, the cake was bitter and salty, and this is due to the fact that not enough sugar was added to the cake. The experience was very enriching, as I learnt the basics of baking a cake, such as flouring a pan, mixing, beating and whisking. A funny experience I had was learning how to flour a cake pan, because of the name, I placed flour in the cake pan so as to 'flour it', turns out there is butter involved in the process as well.

Definitely a better success than its chocolate counterpart, although there were some things I messed up. or example, the recipe required me to add sugar to egg, and beat until the colour changes to white. However, I did not realise I was supposed to separate the yolk and white and use the white only, hence my egg-sugar mixture did not turn white. Other than that, the cake was really good, and much sweeter than the chocolate cake. The taste was good, and I am quite satisfied with this cake.

This has been a very enriching experience for me, as I hardly bake, if not never, so getting a chance to experience baking a cake was definitely a breath of fresh air for me. It was really fun mixing ingredients together, and watching them turn into the desired state you want, it is almost like making a potion or some sort of secret concoction. After this experience, I have learnt the basics of cake baking which would definitely help me if I need to bake any cakes in future. And so, this marks the end of my SIL project. :D

I refered to a video to help me make this bear, but the head turned out so big??? Im not sure why tho. I feel like this bear is a little deformed. It still looks cute so its fine. I also made some kind of (jumper?) For him. This took surprisingly short, and i finished this project around 12 pm. This was quite hard to do, especially the arms and ears, because of the inc/dec stitches i had to make in a small space. Regardless, i am quite happy with the results.

This dinosaur took me a g e s to make. (Literally from the morning till around 4pm) As u can see here, the yarn is fluffy so it was quite hard to pintpoint where to put my needle, and it was a struggle to get the needle into the stitch as well. This was quite simple, i guess. I just had to count the stitches carefully so i did not miss any.

This sil was a really nice experience as it allowed me to learn more about a topic that i was really interested in. These sessions also made me more disciplined as i managed to complete all of the crotcheting projects on time by starting earlier (around 7-8 am). Even though this sounds super cliché, but i actually got super frustrated trying to finish the crotcheted projects on time. Especially that blanket and the dinosaur. They were super tedious to make and took really long.

However, this was still a super relaxing activity where i got to learn some basics of crotchet, and i will definitely make use of these skills to make some gifts for my family and friends!

These sil activities have been a fruitful experience for me as it allowed me to spend more time doing the things i enjoy doing like crocheting rather than studying all day. I have also learnt many different ways of crocheting, like the single crochet stitch and the double crochet stitch etc. With the knowledge of these basic stitches i would then be able to crochet more things during my free time. Throughout the journey of crocheting the bear i faced many difficulties as i would often loose count of the number of rounds i crocheted but however i managed to remain patient and finished crocheting the bear in the end.

Today, I did some science about interactions within ecosystems, then I am ready to learn some python :)

I already had python installed from last time so I skipped until the variables & data types. But before that I need to refresh myself on what strings are since I forgot them. I spent around 20 minute on this. I learnt how to arrange strings when printing them and how variables work. I'm getting a little bored though...

BCD Day 2: April 12

9-ish to 10-ish

I decided to do some python first before I start my BCD things because why not? Today I learnt about:

1. How does numbers work + when and how to use them

2. Inputs and variables (again)

3. Lists and list function

Also I made some things in python like:

1. A Mad Libs game (which is quite easy with variables and inputs)

2. A simple calculators (which also uses variables and inputs)

Spent a little over an hour doing this. I am so hungry (even though I ate breakfast like a little over 2 hours ago... Imma be back :)

Okay I'm back for round 2 :)

So for like the past hour, I learnt about:

1. Tuples (Took quite some time to differentiate between it and a list)

2.Functions (quite easy to understand)

3. Return statements (almost had a heart attack trying to understand)

BCD Day 3: 26 April

Before I started this, I realised I forgot about what I just learnt (like the contents, not what they are called :P), so I took like half an hour to refresh my mind.

So today I learn some thingz:

-How to build a somewhat realistic calculator (where the calc have multiple operations + I can add decimals too instead of just integers :) )

-Dictionaries ( I think that kinda useless imo, but who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

-While loop (Pretty easy to understand, though it took a while to differentiate from a for loop)

-A guessing game :) (It took a while to work since I keep missing stuff out by accident)

-Exponent function (** looks like I am censoring something omg)

-2D list and nested loop (essentially a loop in a loop)

Today I spent almost 1.5 hours on python with no breaks (lost track of time oops) so I will continue this soon.

I know that I am never gonna finish this course if I do it fortnightly, so I took some time off the day before yesterday and covered some things:

-Building a translator (I should get paid to do this)

-Comments (no comments, ba dum tsss - ok this is terrible -_-)

-Try/Except (I will try to do this, except that I am hungry for food)

Now for today, I have done:

-Classes and objects (I will have to revisit this soon 'cause I am having a very hard time understanding this)

- Object functions (Revisit it along with :classes and objects" because I also don't understand this)

- Inheritance (Pretty easy to understand since it is mostly about common sense.)

I spent around an hour doing this since I kep repeating the classes and objects part of the video. (And yet I still don't understand it *facepalm*)

OVERALL REFLECTION

I feel that it was somewhat fun to learn about the basics about python, and about how they work. It is indeed a mind-boggling journey since I encountered many challenges such as minor slip-ups and frustration when I encountered a problem with my program. And because this is only a crash course on the basics of python, I look forward to taking some time off to start learning more about python (maybe an intermediate course?). Also I really need to revisit the part about "classes and objects" and "object function" because I have no clue about what they are 0.0 . I will definitely do some research on it :)

Today, I decided to use the chocolate chip cookie recipe, as cakes seem quite simple to me, and I would love to learn how to make cookies. The overall process of making the cookies was smooth and there were no slip-ups. However, something I can improve on is perhaps to bake it at a higher temperature, because the cookies came out and were quite soft. Hence, the cookies may have been under baked. Thus, baking it at a higher temperature would definitely make them less soft.

Today, I decided to step up my game and try recipes that are out of my comfort zone. I decided to research two desserts that I like, that being donut holes and lemon meringue tarts. However, upon further research, I realised that making lemon meringue tarts may not be the best option, as there are quite a few ingredients that are not easy to find in normal supermarkets. Hence, I decided that I'll stick to making the donut holes the next session.

For my final session today, I wanted to use the recipe I found last session to make the donut holes. I never knew donut holes were really easy to make, and nothing was difficult. However, something I didn't know at first was that my oil was too hot, hence my first few attempts were burnt because of the hot oil. I realized that for some reason the accessory part didn't come with a base so I put it on a piece of plastic to pour the resin. Afterwards when it dried, some of the resin leaked out through the bottom and the accessory became only half filled.

I also added some other resin accessories like the tiny stars, but that also leaked through with the resin.

I learnt why Procreate was so popular among artists! At first i thought procreate was too overrated, however, having to try it out for myself, i think it deserves all the recognition. I think that the special feature that attracted me to use this more often is the colour palette feature. I am able to import a photo of your artwork into Procreate and test how different colors will look on the canvas before I actually paint the color on the canvas. This is a very unique feature I would definitely use!

I really enjoyed using procreate! It was definitely a fun experience to work with different brushes and new features i have never tried before. I think i will be using procreate more often after this :D

Didnt really draw a lot this session, but i learnt more about how to plan out poses. I didnt draw the actual body in the pose above because we already learnt body proportions in the previous sessions :))

For example, we could use stickmen (like above) to plan out the poses before putting in the details, so we could make sure the pose/proportions looks decent. We could use circles for joints, and could add in the hip bone/rib cage to help us plan out the body proportions.

Forshortening in poses are also pretty common, but i wont learn that today.

Since drawing is something i really enjoy, it is nice to be able to do it as schoolwork. I get to unwind and learn how to draw anatomy and poses at the same time, which is really nice.

Through this bcd session, i have learnt to be more responsible and finish my tasks on time.

Through this SIL journey, I learned a lot of things. The first of which would be patience, because I realised that it takes a lot of time and patience just to make one simple dish that can be eaten within a few minutes. It was also an enriching experience for me because it also taught me new simple recipes that I can follow in the future to make desserts again. Overall, I would love to do this again in the future.

its actually really hard to learn a completely foreign language cause theres a lot of memory work involved. since bcd was fortnightly, and i didn't really use japanese everyday, i often forgot about what i had learnt the previous session. after 4 sessions i could only read extremely simple words in japanese when its written with English characters, and i think its cause i lacked practice. in conclusion, i learnt that learning a new skill requires a lot of practice

SIL Ses 1 (5 Jul):

-Ok, so I want to start on going back and trying to understand what classes and objects are since like I didn’t quite understand the previous time, and like i have been putting it off so ye… 😬 Ard half an hour later…
-Omg, I actually understand it now :o-I also learnt the concept of inheritance, so… that’s nice :)Anywayzz…

-Today I don’t really feel that motivated to do anything, so I will try my best to finish at least one aspect in python
-Okay, I finished the python part about strings. It talked about the different aspects of strings like how they are immutable (characters is unable to be changed) and the different functions, like .split(), which splits each character into a list.

-Today, I tried learning the lambda function, which is like a function with no name. It is kind of weird to use it since I never really used it before, and typically lambda functions only allow one line of code, so it is quite limiting to use

For example, we could use stickmen to plan out poses so the limb proportions and placing does not look weird when you put details in. We could also use hip bones/ribcages to guide us on where the body should be facing. We can also use circles for joints.
