In conjunction with other education leaders, she develops innovative initiatives focused on updating education strategies with the goal of improving student performance. Prior to assuming her current position, Laurie Kimbrel led as superintendent of the Tamalpais Union High School District, which comprises over 4,000 students and over 400 staff. In preparation for her career in education, Laurie Kimbrel earned her MS in special education from Dominican University and her certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from National Louis University. She subsequently matriculated at Loyola University Chicago, where she secured her PhD in curriculum and completed postdoctorate work in executive leadership. Outside of her professional responsibilities, Laurie Kimbrel helps close education achievements gaps as a volunteer with the Georgia chapter of Students First and strives to instill leadership skills in teenage girls as a mentor with Destiny’s Daughter of Promise.
