In the evolution of most Indigenous societies, one variable has remained constant, which is their indifference towards material goods and superficiality. And thus, they cannot accept the idea that humanity benefits from the construction of our global cities.

They therefore remain feeling alienated as they are aware that these consumer societies and globalised markets only prosper at the expense of the environment and the more vulnerable communities- which ultimately contradicts their instinctual morals and values.

This inability to conform to our globalised societal norms has been the catalyst for Indigenous populations experiencing significantly higher rates in chronic poverty, substance abuse and violence.
