I chose this song because the artist sings about how fate is mysterious in the words "Just around the riverbend", meaning what does life hold in store for us just around the riverbend. The artist sings, "I look once more just around the river bend, Beyond the shore where the gulls fly free, Don't know what for what I dream the day might send, Just around the river bend for me, coming for me." The artist expresses that she doesn't know what will happen in her future and that fate is unpredictable, but without using those exact words. I chose this poem because the poet conveys the message that fate is unknown, to you or to me. The poet says, "Unknown to Cromwell as to me 
Was Cromwell's measure or degree; 
Unknown to him as to his horse, 
If he than his groom be better or worse." In these words the poet tells how fate is unpredictable, unknowable, and how he doesn't know what might be ahead. In The Fellowship of the Ring, Frodo is unsure of the dangers and obstacles ahead and vies to create a strong force to go along with him on his quest to destroy the ring.

I chose this comic strip because the writer shows in his graphics that fate is unpredictable. The writer says through the mouth of Calvin, "I control your fate! Your very LIVES are in my hands!"
