The government heavily wanted to shut down this protest because it brings to light of the inhumane practices the government has been doing.

Then more recently, the coalition made a joint statement on the revoked international student visas with a list of demands, This relates to the Maira and Sze reading because in both their example and this one, there were protests about the deeply rooted and systemic issues affecting their respective campuses. Here at CSULB student organizers experience barriers such as the TPM policy and the potential risk of suspension or expulsion for engaging in protests. These are shut down because the administration realizes the power of these students and perceives it as a threat. Certain beliefs or identities are more targeted for harm or violence than others at protests.
