pros & cons to deviance

A con of deviance is that it can put players at danger of injuries if the tenets are bowed or disregarded. If an athlete did something which to purposefully harm another player, such as a slide tackle and kicking the players ankles, this could potentiality really harm them and could end their career. An example of this is Roy Keane who kicked another player on purpose for revenge purposes, which ended Alfies career.

Cons

Another con of deviance is that it can be a bad example to younger upcoming players in sport and they may start to believe that it is the right way to play. This is wrong because it means they will think it is acceptable and easy to get away with it.

Another con is that deviance can ruin the sport for fans and spectators. If fans are supporting their team and they get cheated out of the win, then fans may feel cheated against and so begin to lose interest in the sport. This could mean that they stop attending games and supporting online so clubs and teams could lose money due to them not receiving income from ticket sales or merchandise. An example of this is Lance armsrtong. He gained a lot of fans when he won his titles, however, when he was stripped of his title and was found out for drugs, he lost many fans and his reputation decreased due to fans feeling cheated.
