I chose this image as a representation of me because I am calm yet intriguing. The ocean is also where I feel my happiest as I love to scuba dive.

For the recyclable materials, I chose a plastic cup, cardboard plate, and some boxes that were laying around my house. I believe these materials express the importance of sustainability as they are everyday items that can easily be put in the recycle bin. People can help the environment just by recycling from home.

I will research stop-motion films to see if I can get inspiration.

What:
Ater doing some research and getting inspiration from the internet, I decided to create a stop-motion film with the recycled materials putting trash in a recycling bin. This shows the importance of sustainability as everyone can recycle, even recyclable items! I think it is a fun way to spread a message that recycling is important to help keep the earth healthy.

So What:
From this activity, I have learned that stop motion can be a great way to integrate the arts. It is a fun project and the app was really simple to use.

Now What:
As I work in a before and after school care, I am going to do a similar activity with the students to see their reaction. I would love to hear their feedback on the activity and want to see what they can create! I think it is a great way to integrate the arts into another subject area such as HASS. I would also like to practice using the app as a few shots had my finger in it but overall, I think it turned out great.

What:
After completing this activity, I realised how great it would be to integrate the arts and maths to create a beautiful drawing. The students would all be given the same instructions however all of the artworks would look different. This activity gives students the ability to be creative when working with geometric shapes.

So What:
This activity has really opened my eyes to how great integrating the arts can be. I was super engaged in the activity and feel it would be a great way for students to practice their shapes whilst being creative.

Now What:
I enjoyed this activity and I am learning so much in this course. I feel that engaging in the activities every week is helping me become a better teacher.

Listening (Activity 2)

What:
For this activity, I responded to Carnival of the Animals from the tutorial. In the music, I heard lots of tension being built at the start. This was represented by the gradual slopes and harsh lines that I drew.

So What:
This activity showed me how many sounds and emotions can be interpreted from music. I think this would be a good activity to introduce students to music concepts and get them to listen to all of the sounds. It is an engaging activity that I feel would suit all ages of students.

Now What:
Upon reflection, I think this activity could be good to help enhance calm emotions. By using soft, gentle music, the students can relax and draw soft lines which would
regulate high emotions. There are many ways this activity could be approached.

What:
For my animal, I selected the green tree frog as my Australian Amphibian. I did some research on how they moved and found that they jump at different heights. When I did the activity, I tried to keep my back straight and I tried jumping at 2 different levels.

So What:
This activity definitely put a smile on my face. I had a good laugh at myself and was a little embarrassed. If I feel this way, I am sure the students would too. Although it is a great activity to engage students and integrate movement into another subject area, the students would need to be supported so they feel comfortable in completing the task.

Now What:
For my future students, I would ensure the environment is a safe space where they feel they can try their best. I believe that if the environment is supportive, they will want to learn and engage in funny learning tasks like this!

What:
The artwork that I have chosen to look at is "Starry Night" by Vincent Van Gogh. The emotions that come to mind when looking at this painting is dark, twisted, lost, sad, confused and crazy. A poetic response that captures the essence of that artwork is: The night is dark and mysterious just like a person's soul. When I looked at this painting, I get a sense of darkness.

So What:
Sounds that may enhance this painting on a soundscape may include the flute, soft drums or chanting. These are the musical instruments I would imagine go with this painting.

So What:
I would get the student to create a soundscape using ICT to enhance an image or painting. I feel like this is a great way to foster student creativity in the classroom.
