The teacher uses technology to implement effective instruction. Since technology is always changing, teachers need to be informed on how to bring those changes into the classroom. The more knowledgeable teachers can help those with less knowledge so that everyone in the school community can have, at least, some basic understanding of technology integration

The teacher uses learning communities in the classroom and, other technology tools, for an effective teaching- learning experience.

This standard connects and enhances the Context component of the TPA framework. Integrating this standard is very important, independent of who we are teaching. Primary grade students, older students, adults, senior citizens, etc need to learn about responsibility when using technology. For smaller kids, modeling is key, for older students, promoting good citizenship will motivate responsibility.

Teachers can guide students to learn how to use technology to facilitate their learning process, while helping them use their own creativity with the technology. In order to do so the teacher must have the TK to serve as a model for students and learn with them if that knowledge is challenged. (ISTE- 1- a, c)

In order to effectively teach the use of this technology the teacher should have the PK to transfer the knowledge to students using the technology and pedagogical techniques and therefor serve as a guide. (ISTE – 1 – d)

A teacher must also be able to communicate the information using a variety digital tools.

A teacher bust be able to generate collaborative activities with the students, parents and the community.

The teacher needs to be proficient in their Content Area. Such areas as English, Spanish, Math, Science, History, Bible, etc

Standard 2: Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments

For the teacher to be able to design and incorporate digital tools into the learning process, he or she should have the experience and knowledge of some technological programs or digital resources.

Being a teacher is to be a life long student. We need to keep up with the constant changing times. Learning new techniques and applying it in the classroom in essential for our effectiveness as teachers. Every year we need to rethink our strategies on conveying the knowledge of our content to our students.
