The book is centred on two children's holiday in an incredibly breathtaking seaside town. One of them goes to the lighthouse and discovers a terrible secret. Hardly had I finished the first chapter when I realised that I was completely hooked by the plot. Subsequently, the reader discovers that everything changes in an instant.

The characters are well-fleshed-out and multi-dimensional. Throughout the story, the author creates an astonishing atmosphere, drawing the reader into the pages of the book. It is an exceptional masterpiece that could completely change your perspective on the genre. What struck me most was how the author constantly controls what he reveals to the reader. That is truly amazing.

Taking everything into account, it is an indispensable addition to the thriller and horror genres. It is a must-read for anyone interested in mysterious and suspenseful plots.

Hardly had I seen a short story so catchy, the slow-cooked plot gets you on the edge of the chair while the horror itself goes developing during the main character’s investigation.

During the second one, an almost oniric atmosphere develops right in front of us, when a miscarried ship encounters The Old One, Cthulhu, almost face to face.

Last but not least, the third story reveals what was barely shown on the previous ones, ending the story abruptly.

What Lovecraft does better is describing people and places, his exquisite and sharp descriptions are the very best of this book. The atmosphere created is petrifying but, all that glitters is not gold, the excessive amount of adjectives makes the narration hard to follow at some points.

On balance,this book is the best way to start reading Lovecraft. Moreover, it is an excellent gate to cosmic horror books. Despite its shortness and difficult lexic, I’ll give this book four stars out of five.

Sensitive, profound, heart-breaking

Seldom have I encountered a book that accurately captures the characters' personalities. It could be compared to Henry James, in another masterpiece: “Portrait of a Lady”.

 Ana finds not only her marriage, but all her life existentially unfulfilling. No sexual satisfaction, no child… She, born and raised without truly love, wanders looking for a meaning of life. It is this search that leads her both to Alvaro Mesía, a handsome womanizer, as well as Fermin de Pas, a catholic priest, her confessor, who tries to steer her toward religiosity, falling in love secretly with her along the way.

Ana moves back and forth between the dangerous temptation and the flame of heightened spirituality, and finally give in to infidelity, followed by a series of catastrophic events ending with Alvaro killing Victor in an ensuing duel. As a result, Ana is left alone, destitute with a widow’s pension, and shunned by the society.

Having left much more to describe, it is quite simply, an exquisite masterpiece.

Adventurous ,humorous and loyalty

The Chronicles Of Narnia is a fantasy series by C.S. Lewis about children who discover a magical world.
My favorite story is 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’.
It is exciting, emotional, and full of adventure. I love the characters, especially Aslan.
I highly recommend this book.

Even though it’s a classic, the English version uses simple vocabulary and very beautiful imagery. It’s a favorite for learners because the sentences are short but meaningful.

Addictive,intriguing and surprising

It is the relentless pursuit of efficiency at the expense of human connection that Ende primarily scrutinizes. Having been stripped of their leisure, the city’s inhabitants become irritable and hollow. The antagonists are depicted as utterly loathsome, embodying a cold, bureaucratic nihilism that feels eerily relevant today. Hardly had the Men in Grey arrived when the atmosphere of the community began to sour, illustrating how easily joy can be bartered for productivity.

Driven by an unwavering sense of empathy, Momo ventures to the fringes of time to reclaim what was stolen. Although the pacing may feel lethargic to those used to contemporary thrillers, the philosophical payoff is immense. Pros and cons aside, the book is a breath of fresh air in a world obsessed with the clock. Even though the prose is accessible, its thematic depth is staggering.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone feeling overwhelmed by the frantic pace of the 21st century. It is a must-read that serves as a timely reminder to cherish the present moment.

It is romance, war, and medicine

Santiago, an ageing Cuban fisherman, is portrayed as a deeply human and almost heroic figure, battling both nature and his own limitations. It is Santiago who embodies resilience, as he refuses to surrender despite his prolonged misfortune. One might argue he is both realistic and uniquely distinctive against all odds.

As a novel blending realism with allegory, the narrative is tightly structured yet emotionally expansive. Santiago’s struggle with the marlin is vividly depicted, only to be taken by sharks on his return. Never before has such a solitary battle been rendered so poignantly; if fate had been kinder, his triumph would have endured.

In my opinion the novel is extraordinarily thought-provoking and emotionally resonant despite its simple plot. It is widely believed to convey that man can be destroyed but not defeated. Its moral message highlights perseverance and dignity as true victory.

The story follows Alonso Quijano, an elderly man consumed by chivalric tales. One day he decides that reading is no longer enough; what he believes he must do is restore justice himself. He closes his hardcover books, rises from his chair and ventures into the world dressed as a knight. Soon he realises that two hands make light work, so he recruits Sancho Panza, whose presence adds the perfect sugar and spice that enrich the novel’s flavour. And as one might expect, love was never going to remain indifferent to such a gallant figure; thus appears Dulcinea, the imagined lady of his dreams, who becomes the emotional compass that guides his every action.

All in all, Cervantes’s fantastic quill transports readers through medieval Spain with wit, tenderness and brilliance. This novel remains a timeless celebration of imagination, courage and human folly.

What gives the novel its distinctive power is the way Eco combines reason and faith, humor and seriousness, creating a world both distant and modern. It is William, sharp-minded and highly intelligent, who drives the investigation, while Adso offers a youthful and fresh perspective.

What I liked most is how the atmosphere is slowly created. The setting is really dark and quiet, and it makes everything feel more tense, especially the library, which becomes the most significant place, as many secrets are hidden there.

However, although the story is engaging, some parts are quite slow and a bit difficult to follow. If I had read it faster, I might have missed crucial details.

It’s a book well worth reading, and I can’t recommend it highly enough to anyone who enjoys deep stories; nevertheless, if you prefer something easy and quick, it may feel overwhelming.

The Constant Gardener by John Le Carré is one of the best book I have ever read.

The story set in Africa. It is a romantic and drama story about a British couple and some parts of the plot are based on a true- life story.

John Le Carré is an awesome writer who made me felt so exiting! He describes wonderful Africans landscapes. This spectacular plot was so amazing!

The story tells the life of a clever teacher who felt in love of a beautiful woman,one of his students.

Some time later, they decided to get married and travel to Africa, where they were living for some years.

The plot takes an unexpected turn , since she found out that pharmaceutical companies are developing utterly activities against African children. What I liked most of this book was the pasionate plot of this book. The patient husban never discovered the thruth although his best friend told him some news about those issues. Unfortunately, his wife was murdered....it was a disaster!

If I were you, I would read this fantastic book as soon as possible!

I strong recommend this book for everyone who love stories full of mysterious and adventures in a exotic country.

Set during the Nazi regime in Germany, the book revolves around the life of a little girl who has numerous encounters with Death—personified by the author and giving him the haunting voice of the narrator, presented as a natural, inevitable reality of life itself.

From the very beginning of the book, the young hero, Liesel, looks Death in the eyes while it takes her little brother.

However, Liesel discovers also a book that day, and this will have a decisive impact on her life, becoming her salvation, both literally and figuratively.

 Liesel is sent to a foster home to live with a woman who hides a genuine generosity under her sobriety, sharp tongue, and swears and with Hans, who opens up an entirely new universe for her,by teaching her to read. 

The story takes a decisive turn alongside the dramatic escalation of Jewish persecution, which deeply affects Liesel’s life and the lives of those around her. Her family hides a young Jewish man named Max, who remains a loyal friend and teaches Liesel how important words and books truly are.

Subsequently, the reader discovers that the book is a "tour de force" about the power of words—a testament to the endurance people maintain in devastating and harrowing situations.

There are a few events and moments, carefully crafted to bring out the deep meaning of little actions and words that characters are revealing.

 As expected, the Death comes once again and takes what is rightfully hers: Liesel's parents, her best friend Rudy, and all of her neighbors. While writing in her journal in the basement, Liesel is saved from the devastating bombing.

Seldom have I encountered a book that manages to create such a powerful "frozen in time" sensation while reading. It is a gorgeous and heartbreaking masterpiece, with the ability to leave a deep mark on the reader’s heart and soul.

It´s about a young girle controlled by her cruel grandmother, who forces her to travel and work to pay a debt.

I think It´s tragic, sad and frustrating.

Few novels manage to be as absolutely spellbinding as Like Water for Chocolate, a work in which Laura Esquivel masterfully blends magical realism with deeply rooted Mexican traditions. Had the story been written without its culinary symbolism, it would never have achieved such emotional depth, for it is through food that the characters’ desires, fears and frustrations are vividly expressed.

What truly sets the novel apart is its structure, with each chapter opening with a recipe that, acting as a driving force, shapes the characters’ destinies. Not only are emotions powerfully infused into every dish, but they are also portrayed with such intensity that the boundary between the tangible and the supernatural is consistently blurred. So compelling is Tita’s inner struggle that readers are drawn into her world from the first page.

Were Tita allowed to choose her own path, she would undoubtedly escape the oppressive family tradition that has been imposed on her since birth. It is her resilience that becomes the beating heart of the novel, revealing how silent rebellion can be as transformative as open defiance.

All in all, it is a profoundly moving and beautifully crafted novel that truly deserves to be read, for it allows readers to step fully into the protagonist’s emotional world.

This is a book based on true events. I read it a long time but it left an impression on me.
