during Grenfell tower the fire service used many different skills these are a mixture between technical skills and mental skills. some of the mental skills used are selflessness, determination, courage and a sense to get the job done no matter the dangers a problems they may run into. the technical skills used are fire safety skills and search and rescue skills. the search and rescue skills were used to find those trapped inside the building who could have a risk to life, this could have been very de-motivating for the fire fighters as many people were trapped in very dangers places and so they may feel like they have no hope in being able to help however the motivation was lifted by London's fire brigade commissioner Dany Cotton who kept going backwards and forwards into the building trying to rescue as many people as possible and so the other fire fighters followed there leader. during Grenfell tower there was also specialist teams there to help which would be used to hazardous materials, high ropes, medical response and trauma care for those affected. for this event they would have used BA fire fighters as they will be able to enter the building as safely as possible. all these skills used together area able to allow the fire service to be able to perform there job to there best ability and so they can tackle any incident they are faced with. when the fire broke out in Grenfell London's fire brigade commissioner Dany cotton showed great leadership as this day was her day off and when she found out what happened she drove to Grenfell and helped with the fire and tried to save as many people as possible this made the rest of they fire fighters carry on as it gave them great motivation due to the fact that their commissioner was helping even when it was her day off. this also means that the fire service will have great respect, loyalty and discipline for Dany as she will be seen as a hero for what she did as she stayed highly motivated during the horrific event.

during Grenfell London's fire brigade commissioner Dany Cotton took command of the event and showed great leadership. she did this by being on the ground during the incident and was giving directions and commands to all the fire fighters on the ground. this meant she was a great leader because she came across as knowing what to do and being able to give commands to the fire fighters even in a situation that she had never experienced before which will bring reassurance to the fire fighters as they will feel like they are able to help the best they can. this shows that she is a great leader as she is able to motivate a large group of fire fighters to fulfil responsibilities that aren't usually there's to do this was shown as there was many fire fighters from different districts and some who were even off duty. as well as this dany managed to teach her team how to tackle the fire which is shown due to the fact that not a single fire fighter died even though the event was tragic however this is a great achievement. during Grenfell dany showed every quality of a good leader even though it was a hard situation for her. this shows that she is a great leader as she is able to communicate well, shows compassion for her team, she also shows lots of courage due to the fact that she is the first female fire commissioner and so she will get a lot of issues from other fire fighters. this incident was dealt with extremely well and so I think dany was the best person for the job as she showed great leadership throughout and kept a cool head while commanding the other fire fighters even though they had never seen something to this scale before and for her to be able to successfully put out the fire without losing any member of her team is great. during the incident dany had to keep the morale of her team up high in order to be able to perform the tasks needed to the best of their ability and she was able to do this through her great leadership skills and the compassion she had for the team. during the whole event dany was able to keep her authority of the team this was due to the fact that her team respected her and her judgement and so there was no need for anyone to question her authority as she did everything right. during Grenfell dany also inspired her team to do the best they could this was shown by the fact that even when dany told her team to get out of the building some of her team stayed inside the building in order to save as many lives as possible. this shows that it was not only dany who did great on this day that it was also her team as they all worked together effectively in order to complete the same common goal which was to extinguish the fire and save as many people as possible. after this event it makes me believe that she truly deserves her role and anyone who thought otherwise would have changed their minds after the incident as the qualities she showed were amazing as she showed all the right qualities and skills of a great leader.
