Trip to Bursa

Last February, we went to Bursa for the first time. Bursa is a city in western Anatolia, nestled at the feet of a majestic mountian, Uludağ. It is a fascinating and historical city.

I found the city to be very traditions in the old area. It had many gorgeous and historic locations in the old city. I found the new city to be like Ankara (though I prefer Ankara). The people that we met were very nice, but we didn't meet many people.

One place that I recommend is the Ulucami. First off, it is very old and historical. Second, it has a unique design that I've never seen before in a mosque. There is an opening in the ceiling and a pool below where you can wash before prayers. In addition, there are good streets all around that have lots of shops and restaurants to explore.

One problem that we faced was parking. It was really crowded in Bursa and not many places for cars. Also, we had free parking in a lot near our hotel, but sometimes the guard wanted me to give him extra money. I politely refused and everything was okay after that.

Overall, Bursa is super cool and I certainly recommend. Don't leave without eating "Bursa Kebab" (which is really the same thing as Iskender).

Last summer, I went to Rize with my family. It was one of the best trips of my life. Rize is in the north of Turkey near the Black Sea. It is very green and people call it “Green Paradise.” There are mountains, tea gardens, and it rains a lot. The air is so humid but It is not like İzmir at all.

We stayed in a small hotel. Every morning, we drank Turkish tea and watched the fog on the mountains. The people in Rize were very kind and friendly. They smiled a lot and helped us.

We visited the Fırtına Valley. The river was fast. The sound of the water was very relaxing. We also saw old stone bridges and small wooden houses. They looked like a fairy tale.

The most amazing place for me was Zilkale. It is an old castle in the mountains. I was very surprised when I saw it. The view from the castle was beautiful. Green mountains and the river below looked like a painting.

The food in Rize was very tasty. We ate muhlama and laz böreği.Muhlama was hot and had cheese and butter. Laz böreği was sweet and creamy. I really liked them.

Even though it rained a lot, I really enjoyed Rize. It is calm, peaceful and full of nature. I hope I can visit it again one day.

Last August, I went to İstanbul for the first time with my family . İstanbul is a transcontinental city located in both Europe and Asia divided by the Bosphorus Strait. It is a historical and cultural city.

We went to İstanbul from Karaman by car. It was a really long journey. It took about 13 hours. We stayed at a hotel very close to the Blue Mosque. It is central and advantageous hotel.

On the first day, we visited Topkapı Palace, Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. They are close to each other. The next day, we went to Kabatas by subway. We visited Dolmabahce Palace. Sultans used to live in this big palace, unbelievable place. Also, I went to Besiktas Stadium in Kabatas. The stadium is in a wonderful location overlooking the Bosphorus. Then I bought a ticket for the match 2 days later. At the end of the day, we took a Bosphorus tour. The seagulls, sunset and the sea were amazing.

I want to talk about the match. I went to Kabatas after 2 days by subway again. There was a big crowd, so I went in 2 hours early. There was a great atmosphere. Everyone was cheering. It was very exciting. We didn't win the match but I'm definetly glad I went. At the end of the night, my voice was completely gone.

Overall, İstanbul is wonderful city. I don't know what it would be like to live there, but it's definetly worth a visit. Even though it is an expensive and crowded city, I recommend you to visit it.

Trip to İzmir

Last July, I went to İzmir with my father. It is very sunny and beautiful city. İzmir is a city in western Anatolia. It is the 3rd largest city in Türkiye and it is next to the Gulf of Izmir, a part of Aegean Sea. It has many beautiful beaches and gorgeous historical places, for example Çeşme Altınkum Beach and Ephesus Ancient City.

We went to İzmir with our car from Balıkesir and it took 2 hours. We stayed there for 2 days. On the first day, we went to Kordon Alsancak. There was an awesome seascape. Then, we visited İzmir Clock Tower which was builded in 19th century, and we took photos there. After that, we went to historical places like Agora Ruins and Kadifekale. We also went to Kemeraltı Historical Bazaar and we bought some souvenirs there. In the evening, we visited Izmir Historical Elevator. It has spectacular gulf and city sight. I loved there so much.

On the last day, we left for city center. First, we went to Ephesus Ancient City. It has many things about Anatolian, Greek and Roman civilizations. There are so many temples and historical places there, so I really liked there. We visited Celsus Library which was builded by Roman Empire, and we also visited Virgin Mary House there. It is important place for Christianity. In the afternoon, we reached Şirince, an Anatolian Greek village. We saw many beautiful houses there. It is also famous for its wines. Let me tell you an interesting story about Şirince. In 2012, people believed that the apocalypse would come based on the Mayan calendar, and they believed that Şirince was safe location for the apocalypse. Finally, we arrived Çeşme and we went to beach. There was a wonderful sunset.

You can eat many foods in İzmir. I recommend you to eat boyoz, Alaçatı cookie, İzmir bomb and gevrek (kind of simit), they are delicious pastries. You can also eat street foods like söğüş, kokoreç, midye (mussels) and kumru. The foods of İzmir are really great.

Overall, İzmir is too crowded city, so there are always traffic there. Additionally, travelling and walking in İzmir is sometimes difficult, because the weather is often hot and dry in summer. You should wear hat and light colored clothes. If you haven't visited İzmir, you should visit.

Trip to Barcelona

Last summer, I went to Barcelona with my family and it was best trip in my life. Barcelona is one of the city in Spain and it is located in west Europe. The Barcelona Airport is in the city and next to the sea ,so you can see the city closely while the plane is landing.

We went to Spain by plane from Adnan Menderes Airport ,and it took 3 hours. When we arrived, we went to the passport control and then we left the airport. There was a walking path connection to the subway without leaving the airport and after reaching the subway there was a ticket office. If you show your passport to the employee, you can have the one-month tourist ticket for 20 euro.

Our trip from Turkiye to Spain was very tiring ,so at the first day we didn’t do anything and we slept early. My aunt was living in Barcelona so she was our trip guide. On the second day we visited many places. We wandered the street called “La Rambla” when we reached at the end of the street called “Santa Monica” we saw the Christoph Coulomb statue which is pointing the USA. After La Rambla we visited Ciudatella Park, the neigborhood called “Carrer del Paradis” and and finally Tibidabo hill. Tibidabo hill is the highest point of Barcelona and it has a temple called “Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor” where the view is amazing.

Antonio Gaudí is the most popular architect in Spain. He has a lot of buildings in Spain and he has different perspective than we have. The park called “Park Güell” is one of his popular buildings which was designed by Gaudí, and he used recycled materials with mosaic technique also, the basilica called “La Sagrada Familia” is one of his most popular works too. Sagrada Familia is being restored nowadays ,and it is 155 meters but it is planned to be 172 meters after restorate. You can also visit Casa Batllo, Casa Milla, Güell Palace and Casa Museu Gaudí they are his works too.

I didn’t try any Spanish cusine food but my mother tried once. It was rice with seafood and my mom didn’t love it because she said there were baby octopuses on it. I think we can say that if you like seafoods, you will love this dish. She also tried onion soup ,and she loved it but it belongs to french cusine :D.

If you will go to Spain on summer, you should be ready for weather. Altough the measured temperature was lower, you may feel the temperature higher because of high humidity. Even though its hot I really loved Barcelona and I would like to go to Barcelona again.

This summer; my brother, his friends and me went to Antalya, to camp. We hit to road for a trip in White Sea area. While we were on the road, we saw a forest before arriving in Antalya, and decided to camping there.
We found a glamorous place to camp, but i will tell the bad part first: we realized we have no blankets for night! But nothing can make us upset, we decided to sleep in our cars. Then me and my brother's friend Serhat started to walk through the bay to find a cliff for fishing. Meanwhile my brother, his friend Zeynep and Zeynep's brother Eren were trying to light a fire, setting up the tent, prepearing salad... They had a lot of things to do, but only thing that me and Serhat going to do was wait for fishes while sitting. I caught a fish as soon as i cast a fishing rod, and i caught one more, and again, and again... It called talent. We ate the fisher we caught, meats, salads and a delicious appetizer that Zeynep made. I was greatful for that dinner. After a day, we went to center of the city. First place we went was Land of Legends, which has fun and art shows, shopping centers and eating places. There was a Nickelodeon shop which has lots of interesting and funny toys. I bought Spongebob and Patrick toys for my little cousins. And then we watched a water show with acrobats. We ate our dinner and had ice cream there.
The next day we went to beach at 7 a.m. because the sea is more clean at that time. After that we went our home to clean up, and then we went to Işıklar, where is a district, to buy clothes, eat food, see ancient theatre places and of course to see Kaleiçi. My favourite place, Kaleiçi is an ancient place to keep the old city safe. It was built 2000 years ago. There are luxury restaurants, pubs, taverns, cafes, harbours... It also have a nice view when you get the harbour.
The last 2 days in Antalya, we went to Lara, Erasta, Fatih and EXPO.
I already knew this places and this city, but when you are with people that you can call them a family, it has a different taste to visit that place or city.
