Persia was officially the name of Iran in the Western world prior to 1935. However, Persian people within their country have long called it Iran. And 1935 onwards, the name Iran came into existence internationally and The Islamic Republic of Iran. Today the population of Iran comprises 61% of Persian people, 53% of Iranians speak Persian dialect. 

 

Present day Iran is going through a lot of political instability. Especially after the death of the General Qasem Soleimani, who was a revolutionary leader in Iran and was killed in a US airstrike in Iraq. It’s a situation of worry since this could trigger to start a war between the US and Iran- a war into which the UK could be dragged at some point due to the special relationship between the two western countries. It is even difficult for people who stay in the UK to openly write about it as it can affect their entry into Iran. The situation in Iran is completely complex and cannot be predicted how things will develop in the coming months. And while there are severe problems with the current Iranian, such as arbitrary arrests, women’s rights abuses, censorship and the frequent blocking of social media sites and the internet, including during the civil protests last November, my belief is that most people in Iran simply want to get on with their lives in peace. 

 

As a brand born in the Europe but inspired from the Iranian art and culture, it is difficult to write openly about the country and its culture in British, Europe or the US. As It may go down badly and have a counter effect on the brand. Hence it will be better if we highlight the brand as an inspiration from Persia. Since it gives more depth to the brand and lots of possibilities of beautiful story telling.
