In this segment we were introduced to the story line, in Lincoln highschool which was located in East Los Angeles 1968. A teacher at the school was teaching class where he was talking about Mexican Americans being around throughout history in where they were involved in. But as one student was looking through their text book they noticed there was nothing about Mexican Americans being involved, basically nowhere to be seen. He already knew that the book had nothing to do with Mexican American history and it was to show the students that their history is not known but people that tell history.
Personally I feel like that is something to be really upset over as their is a lot of Mexican American history throughout time. And I feel like that is unfair, why would they hide something so important like someone's history. I'm aware that some people don't know the history behind important topics but I also don't understand why don't they at least mention anything.

In this segment some students were in class reading out loud as one student was struggling to read he looked back at his friend which was behind him and said something in Spanish, and h=when he did he got called up by the teacher in which he grabbed an object to hit them.
In my opinion watching this made me feel very uncomfortable and very upset. Growing up in my house hold I was told to always speak Spanish regardless of where we are because it's where you come from and there is no reason to be ashamed. Seeing this made me feel disgusted in so many ways why would they hit someone for speaking their own language its just disgusting and rude.
I feel like it's something really wrong for someone to do, regardless of who they are. Discriminating someone that way is just wrong and it's sad to think that we called THAT our people that at one point where our authorities.

In this segment the main girl in the movie is seeing and writing about how the school is treating them, how they are being forced to not speak their native language. She speaks out to the schools students in the patio and mentions them about speaking out about the whole mistreatment.
Personally I think that that was the right option to do in her place, because it is really messed up and rude on how these kids are being treated. I think that it's unfair as it is so I think it was a good idea that she's trying to speak up on the whole situation even though her parents probably aren't okay with it.

In this segment she tries to take the initiative and speaks up and starts talking to the principal and other school staff members about the mistreatment they are receiving. And as she does speak up she is brought down by them as they tell her that she will jeprodice her future.
In my opinion I feel really upset about that because why would they have the authority to tell her that she is messing up her future over speaking up. And it's not all lies its the truth, which is what makes it more upsetting.

In this segment they are starting to planning to do the walkouts in which its they're way of showing them that it's important to treat them right.
In my opinion violence is not the answer but in this case I agree on what they are doing because I would do the same.

In this segment one kid stands up in the middle of the class before saying 'walkout' out loud, after this students start existing the school onto the streets. Meanwhile cops are waiting outside for the students indicating them to stay inside or they'll be arrested.
After this, cops start hitting students against there will. When I saw this i feel deeply hurt and furious that people that are supposed to 'help civilians' are hitting students for standing up for something that's affecting them. And it really upsets me that they think that that is right, and in no right mind I agree with what they are doing,

In this segment after all the walk outs some say nothing will change as the system has been currupted and no matter hoe hard they try to stand up they think that all they have done isn't worth it. But in reality it is, it might've not worked immiedielty as still to this date discrimination still exists but it made things easier. Students got accepted into their dreams schools.
