I think the main idea is friendship because Stanley and Zero became good friends when stanley was teaching Zero and when Zero was digging Stanley's hole. After Zero ran away Stanley went after him because he was worried about him not having food of water.

Stanley could have stayed there with food and water and somewhat shade. stanley also carried zero up the mountain when he could have left him. Zero helped stanley in the fight and he didnt have to

I think the theme is about courage because it shows how Stanley had to think for himself and choose if it was the right thing to do or if it was out of the question. To me that shows a lot of courage to do that.

I think it is friendship. It is friendship because Stanley and Zero are best friends.They both went up the mountain together and he ran away to go find Zero and tried to bring him the water truck.He bring him with him at the end.He would have gotten bit by the lizards for him.He also carried him up the mountain.He was also scared to leave him by him self.

THe reason why i picked friendship is because how when Zero ran away Stanley went after Zero and that is what friends do and in the book Holes Stanley and Zero do any thing for each other.And when Stanley was getting beat up who had his back.........Zero that is the key FRIENDSHIP.

I would pick friendship because zero and stanley are friends and when stanley and zigzag got in a fight zero choked zigzag and Mr.Pendanski told them to stop and zero stopped choking zigzag and Mr.pendanski told them why were they fighting and zigzag snitched on stanley that he was teaching zero how to read and Mr.pendanski said that zero was stupid he told zero what did c-a-t was and zero mr.pendanski and ran away and stanley went after him..

I think the theme is friendship because Stanley and Hector had a strong bond and became best friends and through what they have been through that told me that they had a really really strong bond.
