I think it needs to be reviewed that if you are on an early start (before 9am), you are constantly on 'white' time for the first half hour to an hour of your shift, regardless of whether or not you have an email or call slot for the rest of the morning. It used to be consistent with whichever block you were allocated for the morning but got changed recently for consistent cover. Even if we alternated weeks between us (those who start early) of being on idle for the first half an hour. It can be quite draining to have to be on idle first thing every day and in busy periods eats into SR slot.

There have been a few occasions where in the run up to leave, there are difficulties completing the work I need to due to other commitments (e.g. phone slot) and have ended up prioritising students calling in rather than the students I need to get back to urgently. Equally, when I have had long periods of leave and come back to work, I am mostly on phone slots from 9am and don't have a chance to catch up with anything before starting. Could we consider adding in a half hour slot before long periods of leave and after?
