The communication of news in social media has been extensively studied. There has been a long-lasting debate on the role of social media editors in a crisis when some scholars deem editor as a 'watchdog' on government (Ali, 2013; cited by Ewart & McLean, 2019) while other think editors should advocate for government policy and response, disseminating positive emotion and creating a sense of community.(Veil, 2012; Luan & Zhang, 2020; Lu & Wu, 2020) When COVID-19 broke out earlier this year, Chinese social media coverage of public crisis management in Wuhan attracted wide attention and controversy. There have been few studies comparing the roles played by these social media agencies in crisis reporting.

Therefore, I will use content analysis to examine three representative Chinese social media outlets on their subjects and news sources in Wuhan COVID-19 crisis handling, casting light on the media's reporting tendency from a quantitative perspective.

Quantitative content analysis will be adopted to examine posts under the Wuhan Hospitals issue. Posts of CCTV News, People's Daily, and Cover News will be collected from the Weibo information search page.

Population: 152 posts include the terms "Fire God Hospital" or "Wuhan hospital" in the text or hashtag, posted 25 January - 10 February 2020.

Sample: Simple random sampling of 15 of each news outlet. The unit is per post. I first read the post and determined if it fell under the nine subject categories and six source categories(based on interpretation patterns constructed in a food crisis report)(Shan et al. ,2014).

1.Social media editors' choice of stories subjects is tendentious. The most widely followed topic is government handling of the crisis, how do they organize the rescue(12 posts，27%). 24 posts fall under the social topic category. The human interest story, with 11 posts, is the largest number under the social topic. Instead, the three media have barely touched on how the technology and equipment will keep medical staff safe and treat patients. Interviews with hospital construction plans and techniques were also rare in People's Daily and Cover News. It suggests that the media framed the panic-building in terms of social and political coverage, rather than placing it in the context of a public health crisis.

2.News sources are mainly from journalists in the three media (21 posts, 47%). Among them, CCTV has its TV station, so it is more inclined to produce its programs and release them on Weibo. Cover News has no correspondents on the front line in this report, using sources from the other two agencies. Surprisingly, grassroots source comes in second with 10 posts (22%). Under this category, the content is all re-creation of the construction site: Netizen use drones to shoot time-lapse videos or caricature construction crews with nicknames. Editors are full of praise for the netizen's behavior without single criticism among all the grassroots-sourced posts.

The format of the news product plays an important role in agenda-setting. Although this study makes a horizontal social media account analysis of several news agencies, it is by no means representative of the reporting preferences in their printed editions.
Also, the report on Fire God Hospital cannot represent all media reports on COVID-19 in Wuhan.
