Question 1.

In my opinion, GAI was able to grasp the concept of CAPS but only if enough information is provided. AI was able to recognize the context of the email and adjust the tone and content accordingly.

I had to type "Susheela is a busy lawyer" hence, the email was generated in a concise and formal manner. AI was also able to identify the purpose, in this case, was to persuade and inform, Susheela.

I feel that, using GAI would be beneficial in writing emails only if AI was given the necessary and important prompts. Defining the CAPS would be necessary. User must provide all the information and context of the email. On top of that, I must review and personalize after the email has been generated that best fits the situation .

1. Why is Critical Thinking important in life?

Critical thinking allows us to look at issues and problems in multiple perspectives. It helps me evaluate options objectively and not make decisions based on emotions. Complex issues can be broken down and I am able to identify root causes with critical thinking.

Back in SCDF, I responded to a fire call at Loyang. Upon arrival, we couldn't just enter the building blindly. I had to analyze the environment and take the best necessary steps while still being cautious. Weighing options and risk was pivotal.

What is one key learning point?

One key learning point that I grasp from problem 2 is that a strong essay inlcudes solid evidence that is supported by multiple reliable sources. A good argument doesn’t stand on opinion alone. This can be applied by using tool such as the synthesis matrix which allows me to cross reference reports and statements from different authors. This ensures that the argument and facts are concrete. It demonstrate critical thinking by evaluating evidences and linking it to my thesis statement.

What are some aspects you have learnt about academic integrity that you didn't know before?

Plagiarism has always been deeply emphasized throughout my education journey since secondary school. I was constantly reminded to cite and give credit to authors. However, I never really understood the importance of it because some sources have already been cited multiple times. After learning more about academic integrity, I now realise that proper citation is not only about avoiding plagiarism, but also about acknowledging the effort and original contribution of researchers. Even if a source is widely cited, referencing it shows that I am engaging with credible knowledge and positioning my work within an ongoing academic conversation.

On top of that, I also learnt that academic integrity is not about simply avoiding getting caught for copying, but about recognising that writing an essay should come from a genuine desire to express your own ideas and engage with the topic. At the end of the day, I must have the passion in writing and not just for the sake of submitting.

What did I struggle with the most when creating the video?

The biggest challenge for me was capturing the audience’s attention right at the beginning. I realized how important a strong hook or opening scene is, but it took a few tries to find something that really stood out and made viewers want to keep watching. I realized that to the hook differs differently when writing a written a report as compared to video. For videos, an entertaining hook must be done within the first few seconds in order to grab the attention of the audience whereas in writing, a hook must be done to spark curiosity.
