Women of Prohibition

Women had a great role in getting prohibition passed. During the 1920's and even before that, working men would go drink after work and come home drunk to their families. This caused them to abuse their wives and children. As well as issues at home, women were also concerned for their husbands drinking at work since it could lead to injuries and death in the workplace. This would leave the women to take care of the children by themselves, without a house or income.
