The impact they had on these businesses was astonishing. Even though newspaper prices didn't increase, the salary of the newsies did. This made them happy and go back to work. Even though children this young cannot work this is still an example for older men and women who want to take a stand.

The Newsies

The Newsies are a group of working young kids that believed that they weren't paid and incorporated in the business enough. In shorter words they felt as if they weren't being valued as they should. So these young, poor kids went on a strike.

The Act

The big newspaper business had much poor, young kids working for them. The kids would usually work to help there family provide. Now even though the kids worked hard and long something wasn't right. So kids in NYC decided to stand up for themselves and protest against such. It ended up spreading across the country.

Why? Motives/Reasons

These kids had big reasons for these actions though. The big newspaper companies were not paying them enough. They also were recognizing the kids as apart of the business. They would pay them little and treat them terribly.

The Act of Civil Disobedience: Right or Wrong?

The newsboys strike of 1899 was RIGHT. These businesses had millions apon millions and wouldn't raise the salary a bit until the protest. This showed that they didn't really care about the kids but only about the money.
