Both authors use a shift in mood to affect the reader. First off, in the passage " Story Of An Eyewitness the author uses mood throughout the text by creating suspense. The author (Jack London) uses suspense in the text when the soldiers used bayonets to make the townspeople move because it was a life or death. The author also uses the part of the text when the firemen used dynamite to blow down the building to stop the movement of the fire, in this case you use destruction to stop destruction. This makes an impression upon the reader by making it an life or death moment and using destruction to stop destruction. The mood of the text "Letter from New Orleans: Leaving Desire" is depressing in order to make an impression on the reader. N the text Lionel Petrie and his family experience hurricane Katrina and are split up from each other. He also has to leave his home and dog to back to his family after the fact he started to rebuild the house for his family's return. This makes an impression on the reader by using the hurricane to make a depressing impression by making Lionel leave his dog for his family. Finally, both text are about natural causes and are resolved by both having happy endings.
