I feel that in this situation Mr Mpofu is not that friendly and Shamiso felt very intimidated.I think that Mr Mpofu's treatment of Shamiso was not fair as he only treated Shamiso this way and not to the whole class. 

My thoughts are that if you treat just one person that way she won't like it as all the others don’t get the same treatment. 

I think that the writer’s  intentions the way he placed to sound effects is very right at the point. The way the righter  describe the what is happening. I would recommend this book 

I feel that Shamiso is disrespectful to Mr. Mpofu when she intentionally not stand up when Mr. Mpofu entered the class. This is a bad start but Mr. Mpofu did not make it any better. Instead of telling Shamiso nicely, he singled her out, asking for her name and for her to remain standing while the rest of the class were asked to sit. 

There could be some reasons why Shamiso did not regard Mr. Mpofu. Mr. Mpofu could be the new teacher of the class where he replaced Shamiso’s favourite teacher, hence her defensive attitude towards him as she was still feeling anguish. On the other hand, it might be Mr. Mpofu’s first lesson in the school and he wanted to assert authority amongst the students. Though Shamiso is in the wrong here, regardless, Mr. Mpofu as an educator should exercise patience and understanding to students. He could have spoken nicely to Shamiso, as how you treat others will be how others treat you. 

I feel sad and angry for grandmother because she had a son who will not help her to talk to his wife about throwing away the bed that she love the most.
