It will also allow our teachers, both veteran and novice, to become a life long learner, adding to their professional toolkit, by committing to new professional teaching trends across the globe. Also, this amazing rollout and investment in our diverse community and population, hopefully, will speak volumes to our families of the commitment and investment that our Admin team, instructional staff, along with VIL/DP has made in our children. This can assist us in leveraging their support.

I found it very interesting when Mr. Payton said it is going to get to a point that the students are creating the lessons. This is exciting because students want to be part of planning what they learn. 

Then he goes into saying that this is going to require some vulnerability on the part of the educator because students are going to research things and challenge some things. That was powerful to hear because it is true- the traditional role of ¨I teach and you learn¨ is going to be transformed into a dynamic ¨we are learning from each other¨ type of environment.

My students are EL’s so English is not their primary language. They will be able to use the IPADs to translate on the spot or to look up images/videos that will make the lesson comprehensible. My teaching will change tremendously, in a positive way, because my students will not be frustrated or lost during the lesson. They will be able to work independently and continue at the same pace and their English speaking peers. They will feel comfortable thus making learning engaging and meaningful to them.

For example, they will have the ability to seamlessly collaborate on a variety of subjects and topics with their peers both in school and at home.

For my students, it is often difficult for them to look at something from a different perspective, and having the opportunity to work with a class from a different state allows for them to see and hear first hand the opposite side of a story or discussion.  Another benefit is the opportunity to make the Social Studies content more engaging. There have been times where my students have admitted that they dislike Social Studies because its boring. Having technology that is essentially one-to-one, provides my students the chance to become more involved. They can look up answers to discussion questions as well as find additional evidence to support their claims.

They no longer have to worry about only working on the assignment in school, they now have to opportunity to continue their work without worrying about running out of time. I have seen times were students have gotten discouraged during an assignment because they do not have the opportunity to work on their assignment at home and they do not turn the assignment in at all. Now they have one less thing to worry about.
