Årsagen: Ludvig d. 16 hjalp ikke borgerene og bønnerne, så de levede rigtig dårligt Derfor tog folket magten og styrede landet. De ville nemlig gerne have demokrati. 

Konsekvens: der va ca. 16.595 dødsdømte under revolutionen kongen (Ludvig d. 16) blev dræbt, krigen varede over 10 år og man kunne ikke stole på nogen.

Da han på et tidspunkt kom I pengemangel, hævede han skatten, men det blev nogle franskmændene sure over, fordi de skulle betale mere I skat og brød prisen blev sat meget op, hvilket var det normale mennesker levede af, så mange sultede.

Konsekvens: mange mennesker blev meget oprørte, og mange døde (fx halshukket), der startede en form for krig I mellem det fattige folk og det rige (inklusiv kongen). 
Det endte med at kongen blev henrettet og døde.
