We study literature in order to gain perspectives on other views. For instance, of a wartime soilder during this time. Through TTTC, readers are able to understand the complexity of war. The readers are also given an opportunity to find a new away of thinking.

Literature effects us by giving us various ways of shaping how we perceive and think about things. People are impacted by TTTC as their eyes become open to the acts a solider goes throughout his time. It helps the reader now consider the traumatic effect a war can have on oneself.

Chronicle of A Death Foretold sheds light on gender roles and norms in a Colombian society. The ideas of which expressed through machismo as manly dominant figures and marianismo the role of women being innocent and submissive.  The role of machismo is shown through honor and through the two brothers of Pedro and Pablo with protecting the families honor and reputation they killed Santiago Nasar since he took their sisters innocence soiling the family name.  Columbain culture carries strict gender roles and norms within a society as well as a strong idea of honor and reputation as seen in this book.

One being slavery and the time of the reconstruction as well as the Iranian Revolution.  Global issues that connect each are the effects of an oppressive government. In Hughes this is seen through the white society as they oppressed the Black Americans. In the graphic memoir this ties with the idea as their is an oppressive government within the graphic memoir.

Persepolis connects to the world today as its an unheard perspective of a child growing up during the time of a impactful revolution. It ties as it shows the world ran by an oppressive government. Something that will always pop up throughout the course of history since overtime rulers can be cruel. It also shows what it is like to be a child and a teenager as well as an adult throughout a time in history connecting to the world today.
