Individual counseling can occur in several different areas: career or academic planning; personal social development; family concerns or need; student behavior; ESOL learner; LGBTQIA; death in the family or crisis in the community.  Hence, the need for counselors to be culturally sensitive, knowledgeable and competent in dealing with students, their parents, and adult partners in the community.

School counselors use action plans to deliver the school counseling curriculum, small-group and closing-the-gap initiatives (Dollarhide & Saginak, 2017) 
The design, documentation and implementation topics all report the details in the action plan. 
Below is a good action plan for elementary schoolers to follow when they are struggling with behavior issues. When these themes are combined, the CSCP will be efficient in helping students achieve their goals safely and successfully. 
Student safety is a top priority for school counselors. It is imperative that the CSCP is integrated into the elementary school curriculum as this is a prime age to stress safety habits for our students.  The following lesson plan stresses understanding electrical safety and the importance of knowing the dangers all around a classroom, school and even home.
