Slavery is part of the (cultural) history in many countries. Although it has had a lot of impact in the world, I feel that very few young people know anything about slavery. Past and present events can influence national identity. For this reason, it would be good to add the topic of identity to the curriculum, to give students a broader understanding of how identity is developed.

I‘ve learned today that a countries culture is always a mix of different cultures. I was surprised that I knew many of the „typical“ dutch food from Denmark/ Norway - sometimes even with almost the same name.

What I learned today:
For me it was new that all people who were " imported" to Guadeloupe created a new language in order to communicate with each other. It is amazing that this language kind of developed parallel in other areas in the world where people were forced into slavery. I like it that people try to preserve the Creolian language and begin to appreciate it.

What I learned today: To travel is to explore the world and learn through experience. You reach a deeper layer of knowledge and wisdom by asking yourself questions without expecting to always find answers to everything.

What the most inspired me today was the connection between internationalisation and national identity. Both influence each other. Hope to get good practices this week to show this connection in class.

I learned a lot today. I knew there used to be slavery. Yet it is confrontational to hear the stories. I learned how they communicated with each other. I also enjoyed tasting some typical delicacies of other cultures.

What I have learned today ……….

I have learned that it is very important to discover your own identity. Not only to think about it for yourself as a individual but also that people discover their National identity. When you learn about your National identity you can develop as a person.

What I learned today: interaction and communication between people is an important goal. It's was interesting to learn about the history of Guadeloupe and to taste food from other cultures. As a history teacher it was shocking to hear that our ancestors already walked the earth when the continents drifted apart! (That only happened in the movie Ice Age! 😂)

For me the concept of international relations, meant that you interact with people who are from another country than yours. But what I didn’t knew is, that the important part of the word international the word “national” is and not inter. So your national identity and international are inevitably connected to each other.

What I learned today...that identity is not just a set of social roles. It is the conscious acceptance of yourself as such. and only then does identification with your's own culture begin and internalization became possible and real. It a beginning of an important process in our lives. I also learned how delicately we treat our culture, traditional cuisine - this is a careful attitude to our nationality.
