The piece of work which I believe best shows my passion for the language is my world language project from sophomore year. We were asked to choose a country and found out about their culture and history. I put together a poster and then made a dish from that country. I chose Costa Rica and found a recipe for one of their popular desserts. My poster included a research paper that gave me a good understanding of more than just the language there. During the fair, all the students had the opportunity to explore Spanish-speaking countries and also try a variety of dishes.

Learning Spanish has taught me about Spanish speaking countries and their culture around the world. In the future, I will be able to use this knowledge to communicate with others who do not speak English. I am going to college to become a physical therapist, so knowing more than one language will be beneficial with helping others. This will also help me in the future if I were to travel to a Spanish-speaking country. I believe that learning another language is a way to connect with other parts of the world and also connect with people here in the United States with a different cultural background.

Perhaps the most challenging piece of work was the packets during my third year of Spanish. Each packet was for a different verb tense or topic. They were long and tedious to fill out, but I have not forgotten the lessons learned from these packets. There was also one large packet that was filled out throughout the year. Every page had a different verb and I had to conjugate it in every tense we had learned throughout the year. Continuously repeating the same conjugations over and over required perseverance, but as a result I no longer struggle with remembering conjugations of verbs.
