This is the most important civics duty because it keeps citizens safe and leads to government control.
-  Pay Taxes
Every American Citizens must pay income, sales, and property taxes.
-  Defend the Nation
For women serving in the military is a voluntary action, but for young men 18 to 25, must register for the selective service.
-  Serve in Court
It is mandatory to serve in court as a witness if subpoenaed or as a juror if called.
-  Go to School

This is the most important responsibility. Citizens should go to elections and vote for the candidate who they think would best lead the country. All citizens over the age of 18 can vote in the United States. The United States has the lowest voter turnout due to apathy, the attitude of not caring. 
-  Contribute to the Common Good
Citizens should participate in volunteerism, which is offering your time and services to others without expecting pay.  In the US, we have the Peace Corps, which is a United States organization that volunteers to help people in poverty in other countries.
-  Be Fiscally Responsible
Citizens should be responsible for having a steady earning capacity.

In 1997 formed a group called No Limits Theater Group a a performance all with students with hearing loss. She noticed that theater improved their speaking skills and their self esteem. All the actors in the performance felt like they belonged because they were surrounded with people like themselves. She traveled all over the United States, directing performances with kids with hearing loss. 
- Marion Williams
Marion donated money and food to a homeless person in Raleigh. She has sung for St. Mark's Catholic School and she donates to Mary's Meals for the past three years.
- Sky Simmons
Sky has picked up trash at beach clean ups. She also organized a book drive to donate to charity.
- Reverend Richard Joyner
In Conetoe North Carolina, he founded a community garden which he and local children help care for. They live in a food desert, which means the closest grocery store is ten miles away and access to fresh food is limited. To help boost health of citizens in his community, he founded this garden called "The Conetoe Family Life Center". They are now in control of more than 20 plots of land and have 80 young volunteers who grow almost 50,000 pounds of fresh foods every year.

When you are about to get rid of a book that is in fairly good condition, you should donate it to the New Hanover County library so they can increase their collection and replace old or damaged books.
- Volunteer with Meals on Wheels
When you do this, you are helping to provide homeless citizens in your community with food and the daily nutrition that they need to survive.
- Volunteer at Beach Cleanups
When you do this you are not only helping the enviroment but, also helping how others enjoy the beach. Volunteering in these will make you feel good and you will enjoy the beach even more because you know that you made it look that clean.
