"There is a musical element that is commonly overlooked due to its simplicity but is subtly apparent in our everyday lives. This is the case with many crucial elements of music. Most musical elements cover technical aspects of music because that is the contemporary way music is studied when looked at through a scholarly point of view. There are natural rules and regulations that accompany the study of music, and there is nothing wrong with an academic lens of music. Anything that has such a significant history and effect on society throughout time should most definitely be dissected to its core, especially when music has become a way of life and a means of income through occupation. There are many other ways in which the formal, technical study of music is necessary for understanding the aspects of music in all their complexity. However, music has started to transform into an almost materialistic, stagnant, and concrete industry that has strayed away from the true purposes of creating and listening to music in the first place. Simplistic, abstract aspects are now overlooked and seen as unimportant, creating an essence of exclusive superiority surrounding music. This could be a product of the Western Art Music Canon being held in such high regard for so long, music being a part of academia, or a multitude of other reasons. Regardless, there must be an impactful change in the way we view music in today’s society, one that values even the simplest of elements, in order to fully encompass all that music was, is, and will be.

A meaningful element that complies with this vital yet simplistic facet of music is danceability. "
