         <description><![CDATA[<div>Giovanni Da Verrazzano was born in 1485 in Italy.  He landed on the Island of Guadeloupe in 1528 he thought the natives were friendly but instead the Caribs were cannibals. The Caribs killed Giovanni and ate him. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After Giovanni finished school he became an explorer and made several voyages. In 1524 Giovanni and 50 crew members sailed from madeira spain to look for a water route in china. When he explored just a little bit of inland of the North Carolina Coast, he sighted the wide waters of a bay. He returned to france in july 1524. He provided the first description of the north america coastline. </div>]]></description>
