We always took her for lunch to Stagnaro's where she ALWAYS, routinely ate a bowl of clam chowder with the round oyster crackers. The smell of brine and wood and rotting seaweed permeates the whole place. Their fish, however, always looks spectacularly fresh.

Be self-reflective and lose ego-centric tendencies?  It is a very expressive and meaningful image.
